Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement Officer / Resisting Arrest
On Aug. 31 at 8:31 p.m., Officer M. A. Pope responded to the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and Reddy Drive for a vehicle stopped in the roadway with the driver passed out in the driver’s seat. The driver, Paolo Ramirez, refused to comply with the officer’s attempts to determine his level of intoxication, attempted to flee from him by running across the highway, and physically resisted when he was told he was under arrest. Arrested: Paolo Ramirez, 30, of 14579 Arizona Ave, Woodbridge. Charged with: assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to blood or breath analysis, and driving on a suspended license. He was held on a $5,000 bond. Court date is unavailable.

Burglary to Business (Attempt):
On Aug. 30 at 1:46 a.m., police responded to the Burger King restaurant at 9895 Pennsylvania Ave. in Manassas for an attempted burglary. Employees reported to police that between 12:30 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 30, unknown persons attempted to pry the front door of the business. No other damage to the business was reported. No items were taken.
Burglary to Business:
On Aug. 31 at 11 a.m., police responded to the model home at 16374 Kramer Estate Dr. in Woodbridge for a burglary. The employees reported that between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31, unknown person(s) entered the business and stole electronics valued in excess of $2,200.
Burglary:
On Aug. 21 at 5:33 p.m., police responded to the 10200 block of Cub Run Ct. in Manassas for a burglary. The victim reported that between 2 and 3 p.m., unknown person(s) entered the residence and removed electronics valued at $250. There were no signs of forced entry.

COPPER THEFTS FROM HOMES – DALE CITY & WOODBRIDGE (UPDATED)
The Prince William County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in providing information about several copper thefts from homes that have been reported to have occurred in the Dale City and Woodbridge areas of Prince William County. Since June 2011, there have been several reports of burglaries to vacant homes or residences being renovated. Copper piping, commonly found near or around water heaters, appears to be the main target. Removal of this piping has caused significant water damage and hazardous gas leaks within the residences. Prince William County Police strongly urges residences to report any suspicious activity or persons around vacant homes and to report any gas smell or strange odor to 703-792-6500.
The most recent reports include:
3300 block of Bristol Court on Aug. 23: 70 feet of copper tubing plus damage to the water heater and boiler. Total estimated loss - $6,400.
14600 block of Birchdale Ave. on Aug. 29: Undetermined length of copper tubing plus damage to the back door. Total estimated loss - $160.
14700 block of Edgewater Drive on Aug. 28: 30 feet of copper tubing. Total estimated loss - $500.
