ARRESTS
Abduction / Abuse and Neglect
– On Aug. 24, 2012, detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit assisted Child Protective Services with an investigation into alleged abuse which was reported to have occurred in the 1900 block of Brooke Farm Ct in Woodbridge (22192). The investigation revealed that on Aug. 22, 2012, the victim, a 4 year old girl of Woodbridge, was placed in an unlit utility closet, with her hands tied behind her back, for approximately 10 minutes by the accused as a form of discipline. The accused runs a licensed day care out of the residence. Other children were present at the time of the offense; however no other abuse was reported. A search warrant was also executed at the residence. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested. Arrested: Valerie Caye HJORT, 56, of 1982 Brooke Farm Ct in Woodbridge. Charged with abduction and abuse & neglect of children. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Strong Armed Robbery – On Aug. 26, 2012 at 2:14 p.m., police responded to the 12200 block of Dillingham Sq in Woodbridge (22192) , Festivalat Old Bridge shopping center, for a robbery. The victims, a 50-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman – both of Woodbridge, reported to police that they were in a parking lot in the above area when a group of 3 males and 1 female approached them. The group assaulted the male victim and took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency from him before fleeing the area in a vehicle. The female victim was able to get the tag number of the suspect vehicle and give it to investigating officers. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Kenwood Dr and Haddock Rd where all foursuspects were arrested without incident. Minor injuries were reported.

Arrested: Devon Jerome CARTER, 26, of 4652 Evansdale Rd in Woodbridge. Charged with robbery. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Jotham Ceab Oduro PHILLIPS, 22, of 1370 E. Longview Dr #104 in Woodbridge. .Charged with robbery. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Markus Terell GARDNER, 23, of 13109 Haddock Rd in Woodbridge. Charged with robber..Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Alyssia Amaris KUGLER, 23, of 9088 Purvis Dr in Lorton. Charged with robbery. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

INCIDENTS
Crash – Fatality – On August 25th at 8:25PM, police responded to the 13700 block of Jefferson Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was crossing Jefferson Davis Hwy when he stepped into the path of the driver, and only occupant, of a 2004 Ford Expedition who was traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died later that evening. The driver of the Expedition remained at the scene. Alcohol appears to have been a factor on the part of the pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk. No other injuries reported. Identified: The pedestrian has been identified as Noel Antonio MEJIA AYALA, 34, of Woodbridge. The driver of the 2004 Ford Expedition has been identified as a 40 year old man of Washington DC

Attempted Strong Armed Robbery – On Aug. 24, 2012 at 9 p.m., police responded to the 10200 block of Festival Ln in Manassas (20109) for a robbery. The victim, a 29 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she was walking in the area above when she was approached by an unknown man. The man assaulted the victim and attempted to take her purse. The victim resisted and the man fled on foot when a witness walked by. No injuries were reported and no items were reported missing. Lookout: Hispanic male, between 25 & 35 years of age, 5’5” / 170lbs, medium build with short black hair. Last seen wearing a blue and yellow stripped shirt and blue jeans.

Residential Burglary – On Aug. 25, 2012 at 9:22 a.m., police responded to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 1 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 25. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured window. Jewelry, three gaming consoles and related equipment, a cell phone and other items, valued around $5,700, were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On Aug. 24 at 5:12 p.m., police responded to the 7500 block of Colonel Weavers Ct in Manassas (20110) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 9 a.m. and 4:55 p.m. Entry appeared to have been made through a side window which had been broken out. An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On Aug. 24, 2012 at 2:55 a.m., police responded to the 13500 block of Rumsey Ct for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that he awoke to the sound of his dog barking. Upon letting the dog out, he noticed a window was open and his blind had been cut. No entry is believed to have been made and no items were reported missing. Witnesses reported seeing an unknown man in the area at the time. Lookout:  A white male, between 30 & 40 years of age, around 5’9” / 140lbs, medium build with short, brown hair. Last seen wearing a white shirt- no further description.
