**INCIDENTS**
Obtaining Money by False Pretenses – On July 1 at 1:37 pm, the victim, a 35-year old female from Maryland, reported that she responded on Saturday, June 29 to a Craig’s List ad for a house to rent in the Dumfries area of Prince William County (22026). She met with a person who represented herself as the owner’s daughter and provided her with more than $1700 for the security deposit and first month’s rent. The reporting person became suspicious when the contact failed to return the following day for a scheduled meeting.
The suspect is only described as a black female, 5’ 0” tall, weighing approximately 125 pounds and going by the name of “Ashley.”
County police issued a reminder to citizens to be alert to possible fraud and scams by being wary of online transactions from non-reliable sources. Do not share your social security number, date of birth, or other personal information. Do not give cash payments unless you are confident of the identity of the person you are dealing with. **ARRESTS**
Possession of Controlled Substances – On July 2 at 10:35 pm, officers located a suspicious vehicle parked in the 5400 block of Mapledale Plaza (22193). During the course of the encounter, officers recovered schedule II drugs and synthetic marijuana.
