PWC Police Beat 7/29/13

**INCIDENTS**

Aggravated Malicious Wounding | Abduction – On July 27th at 5:50AM, police responded to the 14100 area of Daves Store Ln in Gainesville (20155) for an assault. The victim, a 36 year old man of Gainesville, reported to police that he was driving to his residence around 11:30PM the night prior when he observed an unknown vehicle behind him. The victim observed the vehicle’s driver flashing the vehicles lights towards him.

The victim stopped in the area above and noticed several occupants of the other vehicle approach him. The men began to assault he victim and, at one point, one of the men cut him with what was believed to be a box cutter. During the encounter, the victim was struck to his head with an unknown object which knocked him unconscious. The victim reportedly awoke several hours later, in the woods with his hands and feet bound. The victim was able to break free of the restraints and contact police. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim was unable to describe the assailants. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery – On July 27th at 9:50AM, police responded to the 14100 block of Bay Vista Dr in Woodbridge (22191) for a robbery. The victims, a 21 year old woman and a 20 year old man – both of Woodbridge, reported to police that they were walking in the area above when they were approached by two unknown men. One of the men displayed a handgun and took the victims cell phones and an electronic tablet before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. 
Suspect Description:
2 black males, both reported to be between 22 & 27 years of age—
1st male [armed suspect] was 6’0”, 150lbs with a medium build, short black hair, brown eyes, and a goatee
Last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants

2nd male was 5’9”, 200lbs with a heavy build, short black hair, and brown eyes
Last seen wearing a black shirt and black shorts

Armed Robbery – On July 26th at 8:30AM, police responded to investigate a robbery which was reported to have occurred in the area of Coverstone Dr and Purdue Ct in Manassas (20109) around 3:30AM that morning. The victim, a 28 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she was walking home when she encountered two unknown men. One of the men displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The men grabbed the victim’s purse and fled the area. No injuries were reported.

2 black males, both reported to be between 16 & 24 years of age—
1st male was 6’0”, 170lbs with a thin build, short black hair, and brown eyes
Last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with black lettering and blue jeans

2ns male was 5’10”, 200lbs with a medium build, short black hair, and brown eyes
Last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans

Abduction | Assault & Battery – On July 29th at 12:40AM, police responded to the 17800 block of Lounsbery Dr in Dumfries (22026) for an assault. The victim, a 22 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were at a residence in the above area when they got into a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim multiple times. At one point, the accused allegedly held the victim against her will and would not let her leave the residence. The accused eventually allowed the victim to leave. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants against the accused.

Residential Burglary – On July 28th at 6:37AM, police responded to the 7600 block of Rosbury Ct in Manassas (20109) for a burglary in progress. Homeowner reported to police that she awoke to the sound of someone inside the residence. Shortly after hearing footsteps, the homeowner saw an unknown figure standing in her bedroom doorway. The intruder immediately fled the home after being noticed by the homeowner. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured door. A police K- 9 was used to search for the suspect. An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was reported missing.

Black male, unknown age, 6’0”, 180lbs with a medium build

Attempted Residential Burglary – On July 27th at 3:24AM, police responded to the 13300 block of Nickleson Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for an alarm. Homeowner reported to police that he was asleep inside his residence when he awoke to the alarm going off. The homeowner checked his residence and discovered a rear sliding glass door was ajar. There were no signs of forced entry into the home and no property was reported missing. The homeowner also checked around his residence, no suspect(s) were located.

**ARRESTS**
Burglary while Armed – On July 28th at 3:08AM, police responded to the 14200 block of Princedale Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary in progress. The victim, a 24 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that three unknown, masked men forced their way into his home. Once inside, the men proceeded up the stairs to the victim’s bedroom. At that point, a confrontation ensued between the victim and the men. One of the men was armed with a shotgun which he fired towards the victim. The victim returned fire with his own handgun and stuck the suspect before the men fled the home. No injuries were reported by the victim and no property was reported missing. Later that day, on July 28th, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau were able to identify the armed suspect involved in this incident as the accused after he went to hospital in D.C. for medical treatment for a gunshot injury to his forearm. Following the investigation, warrants were obtained against the accused who remains in D.C. awaiting extradition back to Virginia. This incident was not random and the investigation continues to identity the two remaining suspects.

Charged with burglary, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, attempted malicious wounding, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Indecent Exposure – On July 26th at 3:03PM, police responded to the area of Blackburn Rd and Rippon Blvd in Woodbridge (22191) for a report of a naked man banding on vehicles and yelling at motorists. Officers arrived in the area and encountered the man, identified as the accused. The accused ignored the officer’s commands and resisted arrest. Officers were eventually able to detain the accused without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
