ARRESTS
Residential Burglary / Assault & Battery – On July 26, 2012 at 4:10 a.m. police responded to the 13600 block of Heythorpe Ct in Haymarket (20169) for a burglary in progress. The victim, a 61-year-old man of Haymarket, reported to police that he observed an unknown man, later identified as GRIFFIN, in his backyard. The victim and his wife, a 54-year-old woman, went to confront the man and observed him in the garage of another neighbor’s residence. There was no forced entry into the garage which appeared to have been left open. The victim and his wife ordered the man to out of the garage and attempted to detain him. In the process, both the victim and his wife were assaulted by the accused before he fled on foot. No items were reported missing. Evidence recovered at the scene linked the accused to the incident. The victim and his wife were not injured in the assault. Following an investigation GRIFFIN was subsequently located and arrested. During the investigation, it was also learned that BERGMAN had assisted in the burglary planning and was also arrested. Arrested: William Russell GRIFFIN, 25, of no fixed address. Charged with 2 counts of assault & battery and 1 count of burglary. Court date and bond information unavailable. Alexandria Hope BERGMAN, 19, of 13456 Victory Gallop Way in Gainesville. Charged with 1 count of burglary. Court date and bond information unavailable.
INCIDENTS
Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – On July 26, 2012 at 1:40 a.m., police responded to the 3200 block of Gina Pl in Woodbridge (22193) for a shooting into an occupied dwelling call. Homeowner reported to police that she awoke to the sound of a loud bang. Upon checking the residence, the homeowner observed a cabinet in the kitchen which was struck by a bullet. No injuries or further damage were reported.
Residential Burglary – On July 27, 2012 at 3:41 a.m., police responded to the 14100 block of Rockinghorse Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 3 p.m. on July 18, 2012 and 3:45 p.m. on July 23. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through a basement window which was unsecured. A gaming console and related equipment, valued around $300, were reported missing.
Commercial Burglary – On July 26, 2012 at 10:13 p.m., police responded to Wesmart Inc. located at 1635 Woodside Dr in Woodbridge (22191) for an alarm. Officers checked the business. No suspects were located. There were no signs of forced entry into the business. The front door to the business was found unsecured. An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was reported missing.
