ARRESTS
Felony Child Abuse – On July 18, 2012 at 12:48 a.m., police responded to the 9200 block of Glen Meadow Ln in Bristow (20136) for a found child. Caller reported to police that the victim, an 8-year-old boy, had rang their doorbell and appeared to be lost. Fire & Rescue were called to check on the child who appeared to have severe bruising all over his body consistent with physical abuse. The child was transported to the Western District Station until parents could be located.
At 5:30 a.m., the accused, A. SWEENEY, contacted police to report the victim missing from their residence on Ness Hollow Ct in Bristow. The investigation into the suspected abuse revealed that both accused individuals, the victim’s parents, had abused the victim earlier in the day, prompting the child to leave the residence. The investigation further revealed that the abuse has been occurring on a constant basis. Detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit obtained warrants against both accused individuals who were arrested without incident.
Arrested: Amy Kathleen SWEENEY, 41, of the 12900 block of Ness Hollow Ct in Bristow. Charged with felony child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Court date unavailable, released on a $20,000 unsecured bond. Matthew SWEENEY, 39, of the 12900 block of Ness Hollow Ct in Bristow. According to Ofc. Jonathan Perok, there was a total of six children in the household, some of whom were in “their 20s.” The victim and several siblings have since been removed from the household and are in the custody of Child Protective Services.
