Crash – Fatality | Officer Involved

On July 13th at 4:30AM, police responded to the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Cardinal Dr in Woodridge (22191) for a report of an unknown woman appearing to be intoxicated and was walking in traffic in the area above.

A Prince William County police officer, driving a marked cruiser, was responding to the call and was driving northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy (US Rte. 1) in the area of Crest Dr.

As the officer crested a hill about 1/3 of a mile from the reported location, he encountered the pedestrian in his lane of travel. The officer attempted to avoid a collision but inadvertently struck the pedestrian. A truck was in the right lane next to the officer’s vehicle, which limited the officer’s ability to evade the collision.

The pedestrian, an adult woman, was transported to an area hospital where she died on Monday, July 15th.

The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol and was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision.  No injuries were reported by the officer. Speed was not a factor.

The pedestrian has been identified as Isabella MAJANO, 25, of the 15100 block of Georgia Rd in Woodbridge
