Armed Robbery / Abduction
On June 1 at 10:15 p.m., police responded to the Rite Aid at 4424 Fortuna Center Plaza in Dumfries for a robbery. The female victims, 24 and 23, both employees, initially reported to police that an unknown masked man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The man then ordered the younger woman to tie up the hands of the other victim. Both victims were then placed in the bathroom where the victim was able to get untied and call police. The man retrieved an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency and fled the store prior to police arrival. No injuries were reported. Both victims were interviewed by police. The police investigation revealed that one of the women, now the accused, voluntarily let the man into the store after the store had closed. It was determined the accused had knowledge of the incident, which appeared premeditated. The relationship between the accused and the man is still unknown as the investigation continues. Arrested: Keishana Joy Pittman, 23, of 2538 Sedgwick Place in Dumfries. Charged with robbery, abduction and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Court date unavailable, held without bond. Lookout: Black male, between 20 and 25, 5’09” 180 lbs., medium build. Unknown clothing description.
Malicious Wounding / Domestic Related
On June 1 at 5:16 p.m., police responded to the 4400 block of Worchester Dr. in Woodbridge for a domestic. The female victim, 20 of Woodbridge, reported to police she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot in the above area, earlier morning, which escalated. During the encounter, the victim was assaulted and choked by the accused. The victim was able to get away and go to her residence. There, the accused followed the victim and encountered another known acquaintance, a 54-year-old man, who attempted to prevent the accused from entering the residence. The accused then assaulted him and continued into the residence where he assaulted the female victim again. After that assault, the accused left the residence. Warrants were obtained and the accused turned himself into police without further incident. Arrested: David Patrick Sutherland, 22, of 4402 Worchester Dr. #22, in Woodbridge. Charged with malicious wounding and domestic assault & battery. Court date unavailable, held without bond.
