PWC Police Beat 6/24/13

**ARRESTS**

Malicious Injury to a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On June 21st, detectives from the Street Crimes Unit observed a suspicious vehicle at the 7-11 located at 7001 Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193). While observing the vehicle, detectives witnessed a drug transaction taking place between the driver of the vehicle and another person.

As a detective approached, the driver reversed the vehicle away from the detective and then abruptly stopped. The driver then put the vehicle in drive, accelerating towards the detective. The detective was struck, forcing him onto the hood and windshield area of the vehicle. The driver then made an abrupt right turn onto Dale Blvd, throwing the detective from the vehicle and onto the ground before fleeing the area.

Multiple officers responded and located the suspect vehicle unoccupied nearby. Through the course of the investigation, officers and detectives were able to develop a suspect, identified as the accused. The accused was located at his residence and arrested without further incident.

A search warrant was executed at the residence. As a result of the search, suspect crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana, evidence of drug distribution, a handgun, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency were seized. The detective was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Charged with malicious injury to a LEO, felony hit & run, felony eluding, distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic, possession of a schedule I or II narcotic, and possession of a firearm with narcotics

Abduction | Domestic Assault & Battery – On June 21st at 11:06PM, police responded to the 5300 block of Macwood Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a domestic. The victim, a 29 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim. Other occupants of the residence contacted police. Officers arrived and witnessed the accused holding the victim against her will. The accused ignored repeated demands by officers to release the victim. Eventually, the victim was able to get away and officers attempted to arrest the accused. The accused actively resisted officers and following a brief struggle, the accused was subsequently arrested. Minor injuries were reported.

Charged with abduction, domestic assault & battery, assault & battery, and resisting arrest

**INCIDENTS**

Armed Robbery – On June 22nd at 9:22AM, police responded to the CVS located at 6360 Hoadly Rd in Manassas (20112) for a robbery. Employees reported to police that an unknown man entered the store and approached the pharmacy. Once there, the man displayed a handgun and demanded pain medication. At one point, the man jumped over the counter. The suspect took the medication and fled the area in a vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Suspect Description:
Black male, between 20 & 25 years of age, 5’9”, 160lbs with a thin build, short black hair and an unshaven face
Last seen wearing a gray hooded Hollister sweatshirt with a white bird/HCO symbol, tan shorts, black shin high socks, black tennis shoes, and black sunglasses

Vehicle Description:
New model, red, 2 door Chevrolet Camaro

Armed Robbery – On June 21st at 10:22PM, police responded to the 7-11 located at 14797 Darbydale Ace in Woodbridge (22193) for a robbery. Employees reported to police that an unknown, masked man entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. The man took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect.
Suspect Description:
Black male, between 30 & 45 years of age, 5’11”, 220lbs with a heavy build
Last seen wearing all dark clothing and dark colored mask

Strong Armed Robbery – On June 23rd at 12:36PM, police responded to the Valero Service Station located at 13295 Trowbridge Dr in Woodbridge (22192) for a robbery. Employees reported to police that an unknown man entered the store, approached the counter, and demanded money. The man fled the store with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. The suspect was last seen getting into a vehicle. No weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported.
Suspect Description:
White male, between 20 & 30 years of age, 6’0”, 190lbs with a medium build
Last seen wearing a black brimmed hat, dark colored sweatshirt with “Brooklyn NY” on the front, dark located pants, light colored shoes without laces, and a black towel with white stripes covering his face

Vehicle Description:
Newer model, white, 4-door Volkswagen Jetta

Maliciously Burning an Occupied Dwelling | Domestic Assault & Battery – On June 22nd at 12:07AM, police responded to the 19300 block of Bellau Wood Dr in Triangle (22172) for a domestic. The victim, a 34 year old woman of Triangle, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. The argument took place in a bedroom of the residence. During the encounter, the accused lit a bedding sheet on fire. The victim was able to extinguish the fire and attempted to call police. The accused left the residence with the victim’s phone. The victim confronted the accused, at which point, he assaulted her. The accused left the area prior to police arriving at the residence.  The victim sustained minor injuries. During the investigation, officers learned that the accused had sent the victim a threating message the day prior. Following the investigation, warrants were obtained against the accused.

Described as a Hispanic male, 5’5”, 180lbs with a medium build, short black hair, and brown eyes
Wanted for malicious burning an occupied dwelling, domestic assault & battery, and threats to kill

Grand Larceny – On June 21st at 11:31AM, police responded to Helzberg Diamonds located at Potomac Mills Mall, 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22193) for a larceny. Employees reported to police that an unknown man approached the counter and asked to see a pair of diamond earrings. As the employee was showing the man the earrings, he grabbed them and fled the store. No injuries were reported. The earrings were valued around $12,700.

Black male, between 25 & 30 years of age, 5’8”, 180lbs with a medium build, short black hair, brown eyes, and a beard
Last seen wearing a black shirt, black hat, and black pants

Commercial Burglary – On June 24th at 12:11AM, police responded to the Tobacco Zone located at 14836 Build America Dr in Woodbridge (22191) for an alarm. Officers arrived at the business and discovered the front glass window area had sustained extensive damage from a vehicle striking the front of the store. The suspect(s) then gained entry and fled through a rear door. No property was immediately reported as missing. A witnessed observed a black vehicle, possibly a Volvo, leaving the area at the time of the incident.

Commercial Burglary – On June 23rd at 1:13AM, police responded to PJ’s Variety Store located at 19122 Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle (22172) for an alarm. Officers arrived at the business and discovered the front glass door had been broken out. The suspect took 20 cartons of cigarettes, valued around $870, were reported missing. Surveillance footage showed the suspect enters the store and flee in a vehicle.
Suspect Description:
A Hispanic male, between 35 & 40 years of age, 5’6”, 250lbs with a heavy build with short brown hair
Last seen wearing a purple t-shirt and dark colored pants

Vehicle Description:
Red, 4-door sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, with a spoiler and black rims

Residential Burglary – On June 23rd at 6:19PM, police responded to the 15700 block of Tassleford Ln in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:00AM and 6:30PM on June 21st. Entry appeared to have been made through the front door which had been pried open. An iPad with cover, valued around $370, was reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On June 22nd at 12:05PM, police responded to the 1900 block of Stevens Rd in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 3:30PM and 7:00PM on June 21st. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unlocked window. A laptop, valued around $900, was reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On June 21st at 5:05PM, police responded to the 18500 block of Kerill Rd in Triangle (22172) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 3:00PM and 6:00PM on June 20th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry was made into an attached garage through an open door. A children’s bicycle, valued around $100, was reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On June 23rd at 5:38PM, police responded to the 13200 block of Hawthorne Ln in Woodbridge (22193) for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that at around 2:30AM, she heard noises coming from the rear of the residence. She looked out her window and observed an unknown woman holding a flashlight for another suspect. The homeowner yelled towards the two suspects who then immediately ran to the front of the residence and got into a white, 4-door vehicle. No entry was made into the residence and no property was reported missing. The homeowner was only able to describe the woman as a white female.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On June 21st at 9:55PM, police responded to the 19000 block of Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle (22172) for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that between 7:00AM and 8:00PM, an unknown person(s) attempted to enter the residence through a rear window which was damaged. No entry was made into the residence and no property was reported missing.
