Crash – Fatality *INVESTIGATION UPDATE – On Monday, May 28, 2012 at 8:22 p.m., the pedestrian involved in the May 26, 2012 crash in the parking lot of the Pollo Campero at 7913 Sudley Road in Manassas died from her injuries sustained as a result of the crash. Serious Crash (Previously Released) – On May 26, 2012 at 7:24 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of Pollo Campero located at 7913 Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2010 Toyota Corolla was making a right turn into the parking lot when the driver, the accused, hit the accelerator instead of the brake. This action caused the vehicle to suddenly accelerate and the driver to lose control. The vehicle traveled up onto the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian, the victim. Following the collision the vehicle continued to Sudley Rd,, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes before crossing a median and stopping near Lomond Dr. The victim was flown to an area hospital with severe injuries. The driver was subsequently charged. No injuries were reported by the driver or the passenger in the vehicle. Arrested: Maria Del Carmen ROCA PEREZ, 37, of 1302 East Maple Ave in Sterling. Charged with reckless driving. Court date unavailable, released on a summons Identified: The passenger of the 2010 Toyota Corolla was identified as a 52-year-old woman of Orlando, FL.
INCIDENTS
Strong Armed Robbery – On Monday, May 28, 2012 at 3:40 p.m., police responded to the 16600 block of Harwood Oaks Dr in Dumfries (22026) for a robbery. The victim, a 15-yea- old Dumfries male reported to police that he and a friend were walking on a trail in the area above when they were approached by two unknown males, one of whom was carrying a large stick and demanded the victim’s property. The males took the victim’s cell phone and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency before fleeing on foot. No property was reported missing from the victim’s friend. No injuries were reported. Lookout: Two black males, both between 15 & 18 years of age—First male was around 6’0” / 200lbs, medium build with a Mohawk haircut [suspect with the large stick]. Last seen wearing a red shirt and blue pants. Second male was around 6’0” / 150lbs, thin build – no further description. Last seen white tank top, red swimming trucks and a white shirt over his head.
ARRESTS
Malicious Wounding – On Friday, May 25, 2012 at 3:27 a.m., police responded to the Quality Inn located at 10653 Balls Ford Rd in Manassas (20109) for an assault. The victim, a 27-year-old man of Gainesville, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim in the head with a bottle. The victim sustained a head wound and was treated at an area hospital. The injury was not life threatening. The accused left the room prior to police arrival but returned a short time later where he was arrested without incident. Arrested: Derwin Blair Wanzer PETERSON, 26, of 7319 Carver Rd in Gainesville. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date set for June 15, 2012, bond information unavailable.
Indecent Liberties – On Friday, May 25, 2012 , detectives from the Special Victims Bureau began an investigation into a relationship between a Prince William County School employee and a student. The investigation revealed that the accused, who was a long-term substitute and head baseball coach at Brentsville High School at the time of the offense, had been communicating inappropriate messages with the victim, a 17-year-old female student of Brentsville HS. The communication between the accused and the victim began in February of 2012. Information was provided to school officials recently which prompted the police investigation. No physical encounter took place between the accused and the victim. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested and charged on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Arrested: Richard Earl TELLER, 28, of 3611 Mill Creek Rd in Haymarket. Charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor by a custodian and the use of a communication system to facilitate certain offenses with a minor. Court date unavailable, held on a $10,000 secured bond.
Assault and Battery – On Friday. May 25, 2012 at 1:45 p.m., police responded to Enterprise Elementary School located at 13900 Lindendale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) for an assault. The victim, a 7-year-old male student of the school, reported to police that he was assaulted by the accused, a janitor, earlier that day. The investigation revealed that the accused was pushing a dolly hand cart down a school hallway when he encountered the victim. The accused allegedly used the cart to corner the victim against a bulletin board before pushing the victim and walking away. There appeared to be no reason for the encounter. The victim was not injured. Arrested: Ross Edward SCHRECENGOST, 59, of 28030 Tatum Rd in Unionville, VA. Charged with assault & battery. Court date unavailable, released on a summons.
