Crash – Fatality *INVESTIGATION RESULTS – Police have identified the victim in the April 14, 2012 fatal crash on Joplin Road at Park Headquarters Road. The investigation revealed that the driver, and only occupant of a 2007 Volkswagen Golf was traveling westbound on Joplin Road in the 18000 block. In the 18400 block, the driver attempted to make a u-turn. In doing so, the vehicle crossed in front of the operator of a 2010 Aprilia RSV4 motorcycle.

The motorcycle operator attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. Speed, alcohol and drugs are not factors in this collision. Charges have not been placed at the time of this release. The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Identified: The motorcycle operator has been identified as Christopher Lee CAPO, 34, of Dumfries. The driver of the 2007 VW Golf was identified as a 17-year-old male of Manassas Park

Crash – Fatality (Previously Released) – On April 14, 2012 at 9:48 a.m., police responded to the area of Joplin Rd and Park Headquarters Rd in Triangle (22172) for a crash. The investigation is still underway but police can confirm the crash involved a motorcycle and a vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. Joplin Rd still remains closed as the investigation continues. More information will be released when available. The identity of the victim will be released upon notification of the next of kin.

Crash – Fatally *INVESTIGATION RESULTS – Police have identified the victim in an April 15, 2012 fatal crash on Joplin Road at Aden Rd. The investigation revealed that the operator of a 20110 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Joplin Road when the motorcycle crossed over the double yellow lines into the opposite lane of travel. In doing so, the motorcycle crossed into the path of the driver of a 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada (SUV) causing a collision. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was not injured. There was a second occupant in the SUV, a 68-year-old woman, who sustained minor injuries. Speed, alcohol and drugs are not factors in this collision. The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Identified: The motorcycle operator has been identified as Darren Mitchell KIRBY, 22, of Stafford. The driver of the 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada was identified as a 74-year-old man of Manassas.

Crash – Fatality (Previously Released) – On April 15, 2012 at 6:59 p.m., police responded to the area of Joplin Road and Aden Road near the 16MM in Manassas (20112) for a crash. The investigation is still underway but police can confirm the crash involved a motorcycle and a vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. Joplin Rd still remains closed as the investigation continues. More information will be released when available. The identity of the victim will be released upon notification of the next of kin.

ARRESTS

Burglary with Intent to Commit Murder – On April 15, 2012 at 1:02 a.m. police responded to the 3400 block of Belfry Ln in Woodbridge (22192) for a domestic. The victim, a 25-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was inside her residence in the above area when the accused, a known acquaintance, entered through an unlocked door and began to assault her. At one point, the accused knocked the victim to the ground, choked and attempted to suffocate her. The victim was able to fight the accused off who then fled the residence. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accused was later located and arrested by detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and Street Crimes Unit.

Arrested: Alex Isaul ALDANA, 25, of the 3400 block of Belfry Ln in Woodbridge. Charged with burglary to commit murder and malicious wounding. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Aggravated Sexual Battery – On April 15, 2012 at 8:01 p.m., police responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred in the 2800 block of Woodmark Dr in Woodbridge (22191) on April 13, 2012. The investigation revealed that on that date, the victims, both 7-year-old girls of Woodbridge, were walking near a park in the above area when an unknown man, later identified as the accused, approached and inappropriately touched one of the girls. The accused never said anything to the girls and walked away. The responding officers were able to identify and locate the accused who was arrested without incident.

Arrested: Ronald Rubelio GARZA-CORTEZ, 23, of 2807 Woodmark Dr #303 in Woodbridge. Charged with aggravated sexual battery and assault & battery. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Aggravated Sexual Battery – On April 12, 2012, detectives from the Special Victim’s Unit responded to investigate a sexual battery which was reported to have occurred in the 13200 block of Kinnicutt Dr in Woodbridge (22192). The investigation revealed that the victim, an 8-year-old girl of Woodbridge, had been sexually assault by the accused, a known acquaintance, while at her residence. At the time of the offense, the accused was babysitting the victim. The accused was arrested without incident.

Arrested: Usman Imran BUTT, 20, of the 13200 block of Kinnicutt Dr in Woodbridge. Charged with aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties by a custodian. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Malicious Wounding – On April 14, 2018 at 11:22 p.m., police responded to the 1600 block of Maurice Dr in Woodbridge (22191) for a stabbing. The victim, a 32-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly assaulted the victim and grabbed a kitchen knife, at which point, she tried to stab the victim. The victim was able to get the knife away. Minor injuries were reported. The accused was arrested without incident.

Arrested: Tavea Marie KUMAR, 26, of the 1600 block of Maurice Dr in Woodbridge. Charged with malicious wounding and domestic assault & battery.  Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On April 15, 2102 at 3:20 a.m., police responded to the area of Yorkshire Lane and Old Centreville Road in Manassas (20111) for a fight. During the course of the investigation, officers attempted to arrest the accused, MULCAHEY, who attempted to kick an officer. A second male, THOMAS, seeing the arrest of MULCAHEY, approached the arresting officer and attempted to strike the officer in the face. Both accused individuals were eventually detained and charged.

Arrested: Charles Edward MULCAHEY, 25, of 7707 Breezy Down Tr in Derwood, MD. Charged with assault & battery on LEO and resisting arrest. Court date unavailable, held on a $5,000 secured bond. Jesse Treherne THOMAS, 21, of 7707 Breezy Down Tr in Derwood, MD. Charged with assault & battery on LEO and resisting arrest. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On April 13, 2012 at 1:30 p.m., police responded to Youth for Tomorrow located at 11835 Hazel Circle Dr in Bristow (20136) for an assault. The investigation revealed that a school staff member, a 39-year-old male of Bristow, had been assaulted by a resident, a 15-year-old female.

During the assault the staff member attempted to restrain the resident, at which point,, a second resident, a 17-year-old female, interfered and was able to get the other resident free. As officers arrived they attempted to take the 15-year-old resident into custody. As this was happening, the second resident, again interfered knocking all three to the ground. Officers were eventually able to detain and arrest both juveniles.

Arrested: (Juveniles) A 15-year-old female of Bristow and charged with assault & battery on LEO and assault & battery on a school official. A 17- year-old female of Bristow and charged with assault & battery on a school official and obstruction of justice. Court date unavailable, both were transferred to a Juvenile Detention Facility.
