Child Abuse / Abduction
On April 11, 2012, police began an investigation into a child abuse allegation which was reported to have occurred in the 12300 block of Wadsworth Way in Woodbridge (22192) on April 7. On that date, the investigation revealed that the victim, a 13-year-old boy, was struck with a belt to his back, head, face, neck and arms by the accused, D. BLACK, a known family member. At one point, the accused tied the victim first to a chair then to a stair handrail with an electrical cord and a rope. The victim sustained severe injuries including heavy bruising and lacerations. The accused, M. BLACK, is alleged to have known about the abuse but failed to report it to authorities.

A search warrant was executed at the residence were items supporting the allegations were recovered. The child remains in the custody of Child Protective Services. Both of the accused were arrested and charged on April 11, 2012 following the investigation. Arrested were Daniel BLACK, of 12319 Wadsworth Way in Woodbridge who is charged with child abuse and abduction and Melissa BLACK, of 4351 Edinborough Ct in Dumfries who is charged with child abuse. Court date for both unavailable, both were held WITHOUT bond.
