Death Investigation / Structure Fire
On Feb. 9, 2012 at 2:52 p.m., Prince William County police responded to the 13400 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to assist fire and rescue units with a structure fire at an abandoned commercial building.
The investigation revealed that the structure was being used by homeless individuals for shelter. As a result of the fire, the victim, who had been residing in the structure, sustained severe burns and was flown to an area burn trauma hospital where he succumbed to his injuries that evening. Currently, foul play is not suspected in the incident as the fire appears accidental. A joint investigation is currently underway by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Prince William County Police to determine the exact cause of this fire.
Police officials identified the deceased person as William John MAYBIN, 75, of no fixed address.
