INCIDENTS

Burglary - On Jan. 18, 2012 at 5:58 a.m., police responded to the 15100 block of Brickwood Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary in progress. Homeowner reported to police that she awoke to the sound of someone inside her residence. Upon investigating the noise, the homeowner discovered an unknown man inside her residence, going through her purse. Once discovered, the man fled the residence dropping the purse in the process. No injuries were reported and no items were reported missing.  Entry appeared to have been made through an unsecured door. The homeowner was unable to provide police with a description of the intruder.

Burglary - On Jan. 17, 2012 at 11:44 p.m., police responded to the 3400 block of Vanetta Ct in Dumfries (22025) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2011 and 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2012. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear basement window which had been broken out. Electronics, including a TV, DVD player and computer equipment, jewelry and other items, valued around $5,000, were reported missing.

Burglary - On Jan. 17, 2012 at 2:51 p.m. police responded to the 2000 block of Sequoia Ct in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between midnight and 3: a.m. on Jan. 17. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured door. An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was reported missing.

ARRESTS

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] - On Jan. 18, 2012 at 12:16 a.m. police stopped a suspicious person, later identified as the accused, in the 10200 block of Irongate Way in Manassas (20109). During the encounter with the accused, officers learned that he was wanted on several warrants, including one felony charge. As police attempted to arrest the accused, he fled on foot. As an officer caught up to the accused and attempted to arrest him, the accused actively resisted and reached for the officer’s service weapon, attempting to remove the firearm from the holster. Other officers were able to assist in the arrest without further incident. The officer sustained minor injuries. Arrested: Jaime Gregory BROWN, 22, of 10240 Club Run Ct in Manassas. Charged with assault and battery on LEO, attempting to disarm a LEO, escape without force and resisting arrest Warrants, unrelated, were also served for assault & battery, destruction of property, failure to appear on a malicious wounding charge and failure to appear on a petit larceny charge. Court date set for Feb. 24, 2012, held WITHOUT bond

Felony Hit & Run / Felony Destruction of Propert  - On Jan. 11, 2012 at 3:12 a.m., police responded to investigate a hit & run which was reported to have occurred in the area of Dale Blvd and Mapledale Rd in Woodbridge (22193). The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a domestic incident which occurred prior to the hit and run. One of the parties involved in the domestic dispute, a 30-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation at their residence in the 4700 block of Kellogg Dr in Woodbridge. She decided to leave the residence and drove to the McDonalds on Mapledale Ave where she met up with the victim. Both the victim and she were in the victim’s vehicle when the accused pulled up and approached then with a tire iron. The accused struck the victim’s vehicle with the tire iron shattering a passenger window and the windshield. The victim was able to drive away in the vehicle with the accused traveling behind. The accused sideswiped the victim’s vehicle near Dale Blvd and Minnieville Rd which caused both vehicles to spin out. The victim was able to lose the accused by traveling down a side street and contacted police. The accused, as a result of the collision, was forced off the road into a ditch. The accused left the scene of the crash but was located a short time later in the wooded area nearby. There, he was arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported. Arrested: Carlos Roberto SOLORZANO, 31, of the 4700 block of Kellogg Dr in Woodbridge. Charged with felony hit & run and felony destruction of property. Court date unavailable, held on a $3,500 secured bond.
