Stolen Vehicle / Pursuit

On Nov. 8, police were in the area of Waterway Drive and Spring Branch Boulevard for a report of an armed robbery when an officer, utilizing the Automated License Plate Reader, passed the suspect vehicle that alerted the officer the vehicle was stolen out of Fairfax County. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the driver fled leading to the pursuit. During the pursuit route described in the initial release (below), a tire deflation device was deployed near the Garfield Police Station on Cardinal Drive, which was successful in partially disabling the vehicle by deflating both front and back drivers’ side tires. The suspect vehicle continued, despite having limited control due to the deflated tires, to the area of Jefferson Davis Highway near Cardinal Drive where the vehicle lost control and struck a civilian vehicle, occupied by two citizens. The driver of the civilian vehicle was transported with minor injuries while the passenger was reported to be uninjured. The suspect vehicle also struck three police cruisers in the areas of the highway and Crest Drive and Powells Creek Boulevard. The pursuit ended in the 2500 block of Miranda Ct. where both occupants were arrested. Total damage to all vehicles was estimated around $18,000. Arrested: A 17 year old male of Alexandria (driver). Charged with three counts of attempted malicious wounding on law enforcement officer, one count of attempted malicious wounding,four counts of hit and run, one count of grand larceny auto and one count of felony eluding. Court date unavailable, held at a juvenile detention facility. Arrested: Jason Deangelo Lewis, 20, of 7934 Janna Lee Ave. in Alexandria (passenger). Charged with possession of stolen property and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Court date set for Dec. 19, 2011, held on a $10,000 secured bond.
Stolen Vehicle / Pursuit (Previously Released)
On Nov. 8 at 2:06 p.m., police attempted to stop a reported stolen vehicle in the area of Waterway Drive and Spring Branch Boulevard in Montclair. The driver of the vehicle ignored the officer’s emergency equipment, including lights and siren, and continued to Cardinal Drive then to Jefferson Davis Highway. The vehicle then turned onto Powells Creek Boulevard and stopped on Miranda Court. A driver and passenger were immediately taken into custody without further incident. During the pursuit, three Prince William County Police cruisers and one civilian vehicle were struck by the fleeing vehicle. No injuries were reported by any officers, however, two citizens in the civilian vehicle were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

ARRESTS
Armed Robbery

On Nov. 8 at 1:56 p.m., police responded to the area of Tobacco Way and Estate Drive in Woodbridge for a robbery. The male victims, 12 and 11 both of Woodbridge, reported to police they and three other friends were in the area above when they were approached by the two listed juvenile offenders and two other males. After an altercation, one of the juvenile suspects, 16, allegedly displayed a knife, and both he and the 17-year-old juvenile suspect, demanded property from the two victims. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the 12-year-old victim before all parties separated. Officers responding to the scene located the suspects near the 7-11 at Minnieville Road and Cardinal Drive where they were taken into custody without further incident. A knife was recovered. No injuries were reported. Arrested: A 16 year old male of Woodbridge. Charged with armed robbery: A 17 year old male of Woodbridge. Charged with strong armed robbery. Court date and holding status for both is unavailable
