Crash – Fatality
ARRESTOn Nov. 16, police obtained a warrant for the driver of the dump truck, the accused, in reference to Tuesday’s fatal crash, which occurred in the 10200 block of Lee Highway near Sudley Road. The accused turned himself into police without incident on Nov. 16. Arrested: James Edward Dibble, 65, of 7858 Eagle Ave.in Alexandria. Charged with reckless driving. Court date set for Feb. 2, 2012, held without bond at time of arrest.
Crash – Fatality (Previously Released)
On Nov. 15 at 2:36 p.m., police responded to the area of Lee Highway near Sudley Road in Manassas for a crash. The investigation revealed that the driver, and only occupant, of a 2006 Kenworth T800 dump truck was traveling southbound on Lee Highway when the driver crossed into the northbound lane striking the rear panel of a 2002 Ford F-350. The dump truck then overcorrected back into the southbound lanes then back into the northbound lanes striking a 2004 Honda CR-V head on. The driver, and only occupant, of the Honda CR-V, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were four occupants in the F-350. The driver of the Ford F-350 sustained a minor injury as a result of the crash. All parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or speed were factors in this collision. Charges have not been placed at the time of this update. The investigation continues. The driver of the 2004 Honda CR-V has been identified as Daniel S. Tulk, 40, of South Riding. The driver of the dump truck, a 2006 Kenworth T800, has been identified as a 65-year-old man of Alexandria. The driver of the 2002 Ford F-350 has been identified as a 40 year old woman of Aldie.
INCIDENT REPORTS
Larcenies from Vehicles
On Nov. 16 at 4:36 a.m., police responded to the 17200 block of American Elm in Dumfries for a report of a larceny in progress. Caller reported to police that he had looked outside his residence and observed an unknown man inside of his neighbor’s vehicle. The man was last seen leaving the area on foot. Police canvassed the area but did not locate the man. In total, four vehicles were noted as being targeted in the neighborhood, all of which were left unlocked. No items were reported missing.
Larcenies from Vehicles
On Nov. 16 at 2:13 a.m., police responded to the 15500 and 15400 blocks of Yorktown Dr. in Dumfries for a report of larcenies from vehicles. The investigation revealed that approximately seven vehicles were targeted between 11 p.m. Nov. 15 and 2 a.m. Nov. 16. There were no signs of forced entry to any vehicle, all of which were left unlocked. One vehicle owner reported that two cameras valued around $2,000 and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency were reported missing. No other vehicle owners reported any property missing.
