UPDATE
Death Investigation / Child Endangerment *ARRESTS
On March 8, 2012, detectives charged two daycare providers with child endangerment stemming from the child death reported in the 13200 block of Sapphire Ridge Pl in Bristow. Currently detectives are treating this case as two separate investigations, the child death investigation and the child endangerment investigation relating to the daycare operation itself, according to Jonathan Perok, Prince William County police spokesman.
The investigation into the daycare operation revealed that only two providers were present during yesterday’s incident. A total of 23 children, ages ranged from newborn to 4 years old, were at the residence when police and detectives arrived to investigate the death. Five of the children, not including the deceased, were less than 12 months old. The 5 separate counts listed below were placed for the children who were less than 12 months old.
Child Protective Services and Code Enforcement assisted in this investigation and the daycare has since been shutdown. The child death investigation is still ongoing and an autopsy is expected this morning, however, it is likely that the official cause of death will not be known immediately. There were no signs of obvious trauma. The two daycare providers have been charged in reference to the daycare operation only.
