PWC police arrest suspect in murder

On Feb. 12, 2012 at 9:18 p.m. Prince William County police responded to the 7600 block of Somerset Lane in Manassas (20111) for a stabbing. Police arrived and located the victim in the front foyer, in the above area, suffering from multiple stab wounds. CPR was performed on the victim who was then transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police identified the victim as Edwin Noe ENAMORADO MATUTE, 22, of the 7600 block of Somerset Ln in Manassas.

The investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, a known acquaintance, in the area of Parkland Street and Old Centreville Road in Manassas which escalated. During the encounter the accused displayed a knife. The victim attempted to run from the accused but fell in the process. At that time, the accused allegedly jumped on top of the victim and stabbed him multiple times before witnesses intervened, according to the police report.

The victim, with the assistance of witnesses, was then taken back to his residence on Somerset Ln where police were called. Officers were able to obtain a suspect description and located the accused still in the area of the offense. The accused was taken into custody without incident.

Arrested: Elvin Yobex GUZMAN LOPEZ, 21 – no fixed address, charged with first degree murder. Court date set for March 16, 2012, held WITHOUT bond.
