Prince William County Police Department released its 2010 crime statistics. Police Chief Charlie T. Deane announced the overall crime rate has continued to decline, measuring at 19.2 crimes per 1,000 residents.
Compared to 2009:
• violent crime decreased by 5.8 percent.
• property crimes increased by 0.6%.
• The closure rate for violent crime (63.3 percent) is above the 2009 national
average of 47.1 percent (2010 figures were not available).
