Purse snatched from woman loading groceries into her car

Incidents and arrests released by Prince William County VA Police Department on Monday, January 26, 2015

**ARRESTS**

Malicious Wounding | Strong Armed Robbery – On January 24th at 4:56AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7200 block of Manassas (20111) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 21 year old man of Stafford, reported to police that he was attending a party at an apartment in the above area with two other known acquaintances when the group was asked to leave by the resident, later identified as the accused. The accused gave the victim money to leave which the victim took and voluntarily left without issue. The victim and the two acquaintances, returned to their vehicle in the parking lot when the accused confronted them. During the encounter, the accused repeatedly struck the victim in the face and demanded his money back. The accused eventually took the original money and other money belonging to the victim before returning to the apartment. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officers made contact at the apartment and located the accused. While speaking to the accused, officers observed marijuana in plain view. A search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed. As a result of the search, money, marijuana and other suspected narcotics were recovered. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with 1 count of malicious wounding, 1 count of robbery, 2 counts of possession with intent to distribute a scheduled I or II narcotic and 1 count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On January 24th at 5:26PM, a Prince William County police officer was conducting routine patrol on Sudley Rd near Lomond Dr in Manassas (20109) when the officer observed a vehicle stopped at intersection. The vehicle remained stopped as the light cycled to green. At one point, the drive6r merged erratically, turning in front of several other vehicles before pulling into a nearby parking lot. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the accused. During the encounter, the accused was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was detained. The accused became noncompliant and refused to remain standing. Additional officers were used to place the accused in the backseat of a police cruiser. During the encounter, the accused kicked towards the officers multiple times, striking one of the officers in the hand. No injuries were reported. The accused eventually complied and was arrested without further incident.

Charged with assault & battery on a LEO, driving while intoxicated, unreasonable refusal and driving without a license

**INCIDENTS**

Strong Armed Robbery – On January 24th at 6:50PM, officers responded to the Super Target located at 9900 Sowder Village Sq in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery which was reported to have occurred in the parking lot. The victim, a 58 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she was loading groceries into her vehicle when she was approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man reached for the victim’s purse that was sitting in her shopping cart. At the same time, the victim also reached for the purse which led to a struggle. The suspect was eventually able to pull the purse away for the victim and flee through the parking lot on foot before getting into an awaiting vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Suspect Description:
White male, between 19 & 22 years of age, 6’1”, 180lbs with short hair
Last seen wearing a dark colored jacket and blue jeans

Vehicle Description:
Blue, 4-door sedan with VA license plates

Residential Burglary – On January 25th at 5:12PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 1500 block of Kentucky Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 10:00AM and 5:00PM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Entry is believed to have been made through the front door. Two handguns and an undisclosed amount of money were reported missing.
