April is designated “Month of the Military Child” to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.
More than two million people in the United States serve in the nation’s military and many have families and children who are also impacted through their service.
“Purple Up!” is a way for everyone to show their support for military youth. Why purple? It is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, combining Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue.
Prince William County Schools suggest joining others to honor and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices on the nationally recognized day of Friday, April 21 by wearing purple. This is a special way of showing support and recognition for the sacrifices that come with having military family members.
