Public briefing Jan. 21 on watershed studies of older areas along Occoquan River

Prince William County Department of Public Works will host an informational meeting on a recent study of four Occoquan sub watersheds.  The meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. in room 202 A and B at the Development Services Building, 5 County Complex Court in Woodbridge, VA.

The study focused on segments of the watershed along Hooes Run which is in the Lake Ridge area, sheds adjacent to the Occoquan River and in the Town of Occoquan.  These segments are in older and more developed areas within the Occoquan Watershed.

According to a news release, the study was conducted to determine ways to improve the county’s GIS data, assess current stream conditions and to examine existing storm water management facilities to identify and prioritize problem areas.  Results will be used to explore opportunities for future Capital Improvement Projects.

Staff and the consultants will be available to review the study, answer questions about the findings and define next steps.  For more information, call the Department of Public Works, Environmental Services Division at 703-792-7070.
