Prince William Works

Unemployment rate in Prince William County drops to 4.9 percent, according to an April 2011 report cited by the county staff. This is a drop of .7 percentage points from the same time in 2009.
The 4.9 percent compares to a 5.8 percent unemployment rate in Virginia and a 9 percent national unemployment rate.
These recent unemployment numbers, according to the county information, confirm the Northern Virginia economy remains one of the most resilient in the world. The combined strength of the federal government and private sector industries provide the region with multiple job opportunities.
In the statement, Corey A. Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, said, “We are committed to providing solutions for the federal government and private sector industries – particularly with regard to BRAC, the life sciences, data centers and government contractors – which continue to bring quality jobs to Prince William County and the rest of the Northern Virginia region.”
BRAC is the U.S. Department of Defense’s Base Closure and Realignment, which will move some workers around the area.
