Prince William County’s Police Department 2015 Crime Report released June 14 identifies the county’s most dangerous intersections based on crash numbers from last year.
Parkway and Minnieville Road was the most dangerous with 43 crashes. The second most dangerous intersection was Sudley Road at Sudley Manor Drive with 41 crashes.
These were followed by Balls Ford Road and Sudley Road, with 37 crashes, and Ashton Avenue and Sudley Manor and Dale Blvd. and Minnieville, each with 32 crashes.
In 2014, the Parkway and Minnieville Road was the most dangerous with 33 crashes reported, followed by Ashton Avenue and Sudley Manor with 26.
Five high risk intersections in each patrol district - Eastern, Western and Central - have been selected for the Police Department’s Roadway Incident Management Program (RIMP) in 2016, according to the Crime Report.
This means the intersections are targeted for enforcement based on the previous year’s crash data. “The Department will continue to take proactive measures to improve the safety of these and all other county roads,” the 2015 Crime Report stated.
RIMP intersections for 2016 in the Eastern District are Dale Blvd. and Neabsco Mills, Jeff Davis Hwy. and Dumfries Road, Jeff Davis Hwy. and the Parkway, Jeff Davis Hwy. and Cardinal Deive, and Jeff Davis Hwy. and Dale Blvd.
RIMP intersections for 2016 in the Central District are Dale Blvd. and Minnieville, Parkway and telegraph rd., Gordon Blvd. and Old Bridge Rd., Parkway and Minnieville, and Dale Blvd. and Gideon Drive.
RIMP intersections for 2016 in the Western District are Ashton Ave. and Sudley Manor, Sudley Manor and Sudley, Ball Ford Rd. and Sudley Rd., Lomond Drive and Sudley, and Lee Hwy. (US 29) and Linton Hall Rd.
