Out of more than 1,000 PWCS partners, four stood out to earn recognition as winners of the 2015 Business Partnership Awards. These partners made a significant impact on students, teachers, and administrative staff. Managed by the PWCS Office of Community and Business Engagement and SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS, the nominations submitted for the following award winners portrayed the true meaning of a partnership.
2015 Business Partnership Award Winners
Amazon and Ellis Elementary School – Kindle devices used by students from kindergarten through third grade enhance literacy skills and reading comprehension.
Dominion Virginia Power Possum Point Power Station and PWCS Office of Career and Technical Education — Donated equipment and direct support of the welding program at Potomac High School allows students to gain experience they will need when they enter the workforce.
Mason Game and Technology Academy and Stonewall Middle School — Students learn the basics of coding and fundamentals of game design in after-school workshops.
2015 Business Leader in Education
Integrated Finance and Accounting Solutions (IFAS), Minnieville and Occoquan Elementary Schools — IFAS President Tabatha Turman donated tablets to every third grade classroom at Occoquan Elementary School so students can continue learning at home; and custom homework spaces for 20 Minnieville Elementary students to complete school work at home.
The 2015 Business Partnership Award winners were showcased in a video public service announcement that premiered at the Superintendent’s Business Breakfast. School-to-business partnerships are managed by the PWCS Office of Community and Business Engagement and SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS.
