• Death Investigation *UPDATE – On Monday, March 21, 2022 the human remains located in the 7400 block of Wellington Rd. in Manassas (20109) on March 20, 2022 were preliminarily identified as a 54-year-old man of Manassas, according to a report from Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer. The identity of the deceased is pending official confirmation through further scientific analysis by the Medical Examiner’s Office. At this time, the manner of death appears to be suicide based on additional remains and evidence located at the scene. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
Death Investigation [Previously Released] – On Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 1:01PM, officers responded to the 7400 block of Wellington Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate found human remains. The caller reported to police that he was walking to a nearby retention pond when he located bones on the ground. The remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office where they were determined to be human. An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause and manner of death. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau are actively investigating the death. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
Incidents
• Strangulation | Malicious Wounding – On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 8:00PM, officers from the Prince William County Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Swan Point Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 30-year-old man, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was approached from the opposite direction by an acquaintance, later identified as the accused. Just after passing the victim, the accused turned and lunged at the victim causing them both to fall to the ground. While on the ground, the accused slammed the victim’s head into the ground multiple times before grabbing the victim’s neck. The two parties eventually separated, and the accused fled on foot. Rescue personnel responded and treated the victim’s injuries at the scene. While investigating, officers identified the accused as Hubert Drew AVERY II. On March 18, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Arrests
• Attempted Malicious Wounding | Domestic Related – On Friday, March 18, 2022 at 5:58PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 16400 block of Kramer Estate Dr. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic with weapons. Upon arriving at the location, officers observed a male juvenile, later identified as the accused, who was visibly upset and kicking lawn decorations. When officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted and was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle without further incident. The investigation revealed that the accused and the victim, identified as a 15-year-old male family member, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.
During the encounter, the accused struck the victim before another family member intervened. The accused then went into a separate room with another family member, identified as a 38-year-old woman, where another verbal altercation ensued. During that altercation, the accused retrieved a metal pipe and attempted to strike the adult family member who was able to avoid being struck and separated from the accused. The accused then went outside where he encountered the police. The juvenile family member reported minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as a 13-year-old male juvenile, was arrested.
