Prince William County police officer involved in shooting

Officer Involved Shooting – Currently, the Prince William County Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred at a residence located in the 13100 block of Tory Lp in Woodbridge (22192).

Officers were initially called to the home around 6:36PM for a reported domestic disturbance between a mother and son. An officer arrived at the residence and made contact with the mother.

While speaking to the mother, the son, identified as a 25 year old man, approached the officer armed with a knife. During the encounter, the officer fired and struck the son in the upper body.

The son was flown to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer and mother sustained minor, non-gunshot related injuries and were also transported to an area hospital.
