**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding | Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On May 9 at 8:51PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12800 block of Half Moon Ln (originally reported on Chaste Tree Pl) in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived in the area, neighbors reported to police that a gunshot was heard and that a victim, identified as a 50 year old woman, was laying on a rear deck suffering from unknown injuries. Officers, using a neighboring home, were able to make verbal and visual contact with the victim who was determined to be suffering from a severe head injury after being struck with a firearm.

Officers utilized a ladder to safely evacuate the victim from the deck area to a nearby ambulance. Helicopter support from the Fairfax County Police Department was also used at that time to provide overhead visual support during the extraction.

Once safely removed the area, members of the Tactical Unit checked the interior of the home where a second person, identified as a 53 year old woman, was located suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers entered the home and rendered aid to the woman before rescue crews arrived.

Both parties were transported to area hospitals with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that both parties were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. Charges are pending. The investigation continues.

Strong Armed Robbery – On May 8 at 7:13PM, officers responded to the 2800 block of Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 40 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was in the above area when she was approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man assaulted the victim before taking her cell phone. The suspect fled the area prior to police arriving on scene. Minor injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect who was not located.

Male, possibly Hispanic, unknown age, 5’7” with a medium build, black hair and a beard
Last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and unknown color earbuds

**ARRESTS**

Strangulation | Abduction | Domestic Assault & Battery –
On May 9 at 10:46PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4900 Karen Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 38 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.

At one point, the victim locked herself in a bedroom to get away from the accused. The accused eventually forced entry in the room and threw the victim on the bed. During that altercation, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck and began to choke her. The parties eventually separated and the victim left the residence to contact police. No injuries were observed. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused, identified as Miguel Angel ALVAREZ, without further incident.

Strangulation | Assault & Battery – On May 8 at 2:57AM, officers responded to investigate an assault which reportedly occurred at a residence located in the 7300 block of James Madison Hwy in Gainesville (20155) earlier that morning around 1:00AM. The victim, a 49 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.

During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim and, at one point, began to choke her. The parties eventually separated and the victim left the residence to contact police. Before police arrived back at the home, the accused left the area. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the accused, identified as Robert Randell THOMAS. Warrants were eventually served on the accused on May 10.

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On May 7 at 1:00AM, officers responded to a residence in the 8400 block of Tackhouse Lp in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 33 year old woman of Gainesville, reported to police that she and the accused, a family member, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.

During the encounter, the accused pushed and grabbed the victim’s wrist before placing his hands around her throat. A second victim, a 23 year old woman of Centreville, was also assaulted when the accused spat in her face. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Before police arrived at the home, the accused left the area. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the accused, identified as James Michael BELAND. Warrants were eventually served on the accused later that day.

Felony Child Endangerment – On May 8 at 7:12PM, officers responded to the 13200 block of Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a crash. Witnesses reported to police that a vehicle was driving recklessly in the above area before crashing into two parked vehicles in the parking lot of a nearby TGI Fridays. Officers arrived on scene and identified the driver of the vehicle as the accused.

Officers also determined that at the time of the incident, the accused was under the influence of alcohol and had his 3 year old daughter in the vehicle. The child was not injured. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused, identified as Heni Nawaf AZZAM, without further incident.

Charged with child endangerment and driving under the influence

Attempted Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault – On May 7 at 3:05AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 11200 block of Lady Jane Lp in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary.

The victim, a 25 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that the accused, an acquaintance, attempted to force entry into his residence through a window and the front door in order to assault him over a previous encounter between the two parties. No entry was made into the apartment and no injuries were reported.

The accused fled in a vehicle prior to officers arriving in the area. One officer observed a vehicle matching the description provided by the victim and made contact with the driver who was determined to be the accused. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused, identified as Jeremiah Lamar STARKS, without further incident.
