Incidents and arrests released on Wednesday, March 23, 2016

**INCIDENTS**

Fatal Crash Investigation – On March 22 at 4:28PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 2300 block of West Longview Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a two vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1997 Infinity QX4 was traveling northbound on West Longview Dr in the above area at an excessive speed when for unknown reasons the vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and collided head on with the driver of a 2006 Saturn VUE who was traveling in the southbound lane. The driver of the Infinity was transported to an area hospital where he died a short time later as a result of his injuries from the collision. The other driver sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the Infinity was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor. The investigation continues. 
Identified:
The operator of the 1997 Infinity QX4 was identified as Phillip Lee AUSTIN II, 57, of Woodbridge

The driver of the 2006 Saturn VUE was identified as a 38 year old man of Woodbridge

Malicious Wounding | Reckless Handling of a Firearm *ARREST – On March 22, Daniel PIEKARSKI turned himself into police without incident at the Adult Detention Center in Manassas. This individual was the remaining suspect wanted in connection to a malicious wounding which occurred in the 4600 block of Eastlawn Ave in Woodbridge on March 21. The other suspect, Denis THOMAS, was previously located and arrested on March 21.

Daniel Foster PIEKARSKI, 36, of 4610 East Lawn Ave in Woodbridge
Charged with malicious wounding

Malicious Wounding | Reckless Handling of a Firearm [Previously Released] – On March 20 at 3:38PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4600 block of Eastlawn Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic assault. The investigation revealed that two occupants of the home, identified as Daniel PIEKARSKI and Denis THOMAS, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, THOMAS stabbed PIEKARSKI in the upper body with a knife. The argument continued and at some point, THOMAS retrieved a shotgun and fired a round into the ceiling of the home. PIEKARSKI was able to take the shotgun away from THOMAS then displayed a pocket knife and proceeded to cut THOMAS on the arm. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Both parties were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, warrants were obtained for the arrest of both parties. THOMAS was located and arrested without incident on March 21. Attempts to located PIEKARSKI have been unsuccessful.

Strong Armed Robbery *ARREST –  Both suspects involved in the robbery which was reported to have occurred in the 10600 block of Automotive Dr in Manassas on February 27 have been located and arrested. Helanna SHAW was arrested without incident on March 2 and Brianna O’TOOLE was arrested without incident on March 10.

Brianna Seval O’TOOLE, 18, of 14713 Basingstoke Lp in Centreville
Charged with 1 count of robbery and 1 count of assault & battery
Court Date: April 15, 2016 | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond

Arrested on March 2:
Helanna Amara SHAW, 19, of 7419 Hogarth St in Springfield
Charged with 1 count of robbery and 2 counts of assault & battery
Court Date: April 15, 2016 | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond

Strong Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On February 27 at 12:05PM, officers responded to the 10600 block of Automotive Dr in Manassas (20110) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 19 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and two acquaintances, identified as Helanna SHAW and Brianna O’TOOLE, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, both of the accused suspects struck the victim in the face and chest. When a witness, a 20 year old man of Manassas, attempted to separate the parties, he was assaulted by SHAW. At one point, O’TOOLE grabbed the victim’s cell phone then fled the area on foot. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, warrants were obtained for the accused.
