Incidents and arrests released on Monday, July 13, 2015

**UPDATES**

Strangulation | Grand Larceny *ARREST – On July 10th at 3:30AM, officers responded to the victim’s residence on Esquarre Ct to investigate a burglary in progress involving the accused who was wanted for a prior assault on July 5th involving the victim. The victim reported to police that she was asleep inside her home when she woke to her alarm sounding. When the victim looked out her window, she observed the accused running through her backyard. Officers setup a perimeter around the surrounding neighborhood. One of the officers located the accused and detained him without further incident. The accused also reportedly took the victim’s vehicle without permission on July 7th. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested in connection to all reported incidents.

Clayton Mack HOLLY, 42, of the 14100 block of Madrigal Dr in Woodbridge
Charged with strangulation, grand larceny, preventing the summoning of law enforcement, attempted burglary and unauthorized use of a vehicle

Strangulation | Grand Larceny [Previously Released] – On July 5th at 3:42AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3300 block of Esquarre Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 32 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was asleep in her bedroom when she woke to the accused, a known acquaintance, choking her. The victim was able to activate her home alarm which caused the accused to leave the residence temporarily. The accused returned a short time later and began choking the victim again. The accused took the victim’s cell phone and fled the residence prior to police arriving in the area. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers sought warrants for the arrest of the accused who remains wanted at this time.

Brandishing | Threats by Electronic Means *ARREST – On July 8th, members of the New Jersey State police located and arrested the accused involved in the assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 15500 block of Three Otters Pl in Manassas on July 7th. The accused remains in custody in New Jersey on unrelated charges and will be awaiting extradition back to Virginia on the below charges.

Charged with 5 counts of brandishing, 1 count of assault & battery and 1 count of threats by electronic means

Brandishing | Threats by Electronic Means [Previously Released] – On July 7th at 9:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15500 block of Three Otters Pl in Manassas (20112) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 19 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim and, at one point, brandished a rifle towards her and four other acquaintances at the residence. No shots were fired. The accused eventually left the home and posted a threatening message on the victim’s social media page. The victim was not injured from the initial assault. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Paul HAGAN. Attempts to locate the suspect have been unsuccessful.

**INCIDENTS**

Sexual Assault – On July 10th at 3:47PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which was reported to have occurred at the Wal-Mart located at 17041 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries (22026) around 10:22AM. The victim, a 29 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was shopping inside the store when she was approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man rubbed against the victim and inappropriately touched her over her clothing. Following the incident, the victim immediately notified store employees. No further contact was made and no injuries were reported.

Black male, unknown age, possibly 30s with a medium build, medium complexion, black hair and a beard
Last seen wearing a white hat, white shirt and gray shorts

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – On July 12th at 4:30PM, officers responded to investigate a destruction of property call which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 6000 block of Harnsberger Barn Ct in Manassas (20112) on June 19th. The homeowner reported to police that the incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 11:30PM on June 19th and 12:00AM on June 20th. The investigation revealed that the homeowner recalled hearing gunshots around that time. Police were not initially contacted at that time. On July 10th, the homeowner observed damage to an attached garage area which appeared to have been caused by projectiles.

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – On July 12th at 8:00AM, officers responded to investigate a destruction of property call which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 2500 block of Luckland Way in Woodbridge (22191) earlier that morning. The homeowner reported to police that the incident was believed to have occurred sometime between 1:00AM and 1:30AM. The investigation revealed that the homeowner recalled hearing something strike the home around that time. Later that morning, the homeowner observed damage to a rear sliding glass door and upper floor window which appeared to have been caused by a projectile. This incident is possibly related to the below incident.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On July 12th at 1:31AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2500 block of Oak Tree Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. The homeowner reported to police that a party was going on at the residence when a large group of uninvited guests showed up. When the group was dispersing, several gunshots were heard. Officers arrived as many of the attendees were leaving. The shots appeared to have been fired in the area of Oak Tree Ln near Blue Pool Dr. Offices located multiple shell casings in the roadway near that location. No injuries were reported and the shooter was not identified. Property damage was not initially reported until later that day.

Residential Burglary – On July 9th at 7:00PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7900 block of Ashland Ave in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary to a vacant home. The realtor reported to police that the burglary occurred between 12:00PM on July 8th and 6:30PM on July 9th. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the home through a rear sliding glass door which was found damaged. No property was reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On July 12th at 6:29PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4100 block of Glendale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 12:00AM on June 29th and 6:29PM on July 12th, entry was attempted into the home through a basement level window which appeared to have been tampered with. No entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing. 

Attempted Residential Burglary – On July 10th at 4:01PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13500 block of Kingsman Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 1:00PM on July 9th and 2:30PM on July 10th, entry was attempted into the home through a basement level window which was found damaged. No entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing. 

Attempted Residential Burglaries – On July 9th at 8:29AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16300 block of Sandy Ridge Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 10:00PM on July 8th and 8:00AM on July 9th, entry was attempted into the home through multiple windows. The investigation revealed that several screens to the windows were cut.  While investigating, officers were advised of a similar incident at a home nearby. The homeowner in that incident reported that sometime overnight, several screens were cut.  No entry was made into either home and no property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Strong Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding – On July 11th at 5:50PM, officers responded to the 8000 block of Urbana Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 35 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he was walking in the area above when he encountered the accused, a known acquaintance, and two other unknown male suspects. The men grabbed the victim and assaulted him before taking property and fleeing the area. The victim sustained minor injuries. Following the investigation, detectives form the Robbery Unit obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, Jonathan AVILES. The accused was eventually located and arrested on July 13th without further incident.

Felony Child Neglect – On July 12th at 2:50PM, officers responded to Potomac Mills Mall located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a child neglect call. The caller reported to police that a small child, later identified as a 5 year old boy, was found inside a locked car in the parking lot. The caller was able to get the child to unlock the vehicle and medical personnel responded to check his welfare. The child was evaluated and determined to be uninjured. He was then brought to the security office where police were contacted. The father of the child, identified as the accused, was eventually located and subsequently arrested.

Charged with felony child neglect
