Prince William County Police Beat 4/1/13

**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding – On March 30th at 12:50AM, police responded to Waters Edge located at 13188 Marina Way in Woodbridge (22191) for a stabbing. The victim, a 25 year old man of Alexandria, reported to police that he was inside the establishment when he was pushed by an unknown person. After the encounter, the victim realized that he was bleeding from his side. The injury was minor and the victim was treated at an area hospital. The victim was unable to describe the assailant to police.

Attempted Armed Robbery – On March 29th at 6:15PM, police responded to the Exxon Service Station located at 13000 Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22192) for an attempted robbery. An employee reported to police that an unknown man entered the business, displayed a knife, and demanded money. The employee began to scream, at which point, the man fled the store on foot. No injuries were reported and no money was taken.

White male, between 30 & 35 years of age, 5’10”, 170lbs, medium build with black, thinning hair and an unshaven face
Last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and black running shoes

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On March 30th at 8:31PM, police responded to the 1300 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge (22191) for a shots fired call. The caller reported to police that she was walking to her vehicle when she observed a group of unknown men in the distance. The caller then reported hearing multiple gunshots, at which point, she ran back to her residence and called police. No injuries or property damage was reported. The caller was unable to describe the men to police.

Residential Burglary – On March 31st at 10:03PM, police responded to the 8500 block of Tommy Ct in Manassas (20112) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 9:30AM on March 23rd and 6:30PM on March 31st. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Jewelry and other property, valued around $3,000, were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On March 31st at 4:37PM, police responded to the 1400 block of Harrison St in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 11:45AM and 2:30PM. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Three laptops and a headset, valued around $2,800, were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On March 31st at 3:25PM, police responded to the 13100 block of Putnam Cir in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 1:00AM on March 27th and 1:00PM on March 30th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured door. A laptop and iPod, valued around $630, were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On March 29th at 7:50PM, police responded to the 7300 block of Old Carolina Rd in Gainesville (20155) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:00PM and 8:00PM on March 28th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. A laptop, valued around $800, was reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On March 29th at 9:19PM, police responded to the 8100 block of Maplewood Dr in Manassas (20110) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 2:00AM and 7:00AM. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry appeared to have been made through an unsecured rear window. A laptop and backpack, valued around $420, were reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On March 31st at 4:30PM, police responded to the 8100 block of Community Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a hit and run which was reported to have occurred in the area of Lomond Dr and Ashland Ave. During the investigation, officers identified the driver as the accused and determined that he had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The accused allegedly struck another occupied vehicle before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Witnesses were able to provide officers with tag information on the striking vehicle ultimately leading officers to the accused. During the arrest, the accused kicked two of the officers. After a brief struggle, the accused was placed in the backseat of a cruiser where he proceeded to try and kick out the rear window. No injuries were reported.
Arrested on March 31st:
Jose Elias PORTILLO, 27, of 8148 Community Dr in Manassas
Charged with 2 counts of assault & battery on LEO, driving under the influence, felony hit & run, resisting arrest, and driving without a license
Court date set for May 3, 2013, held WITHOUT bond

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On March 29th at 4:29PM, police responded to the 16000 block of Fleetwood Dr in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a single vehicle crash near the Fauquier County line. The investigation revealed that the driver, identified as the accused, was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Investigators subsequently arrested the accused and were placing him in the backseat of a cruiser when he kicked one of the officers in the leg and attempted to flee. After a brief encounter, the accused was detained without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Arrested on March 29th:
David Wayne WOODFIN, 49, of no fixed address
Charged with assault & battery on LEO, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest
Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On March 31st at 2:29PM, police responded to the 7500 block of Old Linton Hall Rd in Gainesville (20155) for a shots fired call. Caller reported to police that a group of patrons were leaving the MVP Bar & Grill when the group became disorderly in the parking lot. During the encounter, one member of the group retrieved a handgun and fired a round into the air before leaving the area. Security staff was able to provide police with a description and tag information for the vehicle. Officers located and stopped the vehicle a short time later in the area of Wellington Rd and Balls Ford Rd. The driver, the accused, was identified and arrested.

Tanu Mohummad BAH, 36, of 10829 Santa Clara Dr in Fairfax
Charged with reckless handling of a firearm
Court date set for May 17, 2013, released on a court summons
