Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling | Shooting from a Moving Vehicle *ARREST – On March 23rd, members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force located the suspect involved in the shooting incident which was reported to have occurred in the 17900 block of Swans Creek Ln in Dumfries on March 21st. The task force arrested the accused without incident at a residence in the 4600 block of Benning Rd in Washington DC. The accused remains jailed in Washington DC until extradited back to Virginia. The investigation into this incident continues as detectives seek to locate the other vehicle and to identify the other suspects involved.

Charged with 2 counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, 1 count of shooting from a moving vehicle and 1 count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling | Shooting from a Moving Vehicle [Previously Released] – On March 21st at 2:06PM, officers responded to the 17900 block of Swans Creek Ln in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shots fired call. Multiples callers reported to police that two vehicles were observed driving recklessly down Swans Creek Ln shooting towards one another. During the incident, multiple homes and a vehicle were struck. No injuries were reported. While searching the area, officers located and recovered numerous shell casings along the roadway. During the investigation, detectives received a tip regarding one of the vehicles involved. Through that lead, investigators located a gold Saab in the area of Brandy Moor Lp. Detectives were further able to identify one of the passengers in that vehicle as Deante GAINES. This suspect was reportedly seen by witnesses shooting from the vehicle towards the other vehicle which was described as a red Kia, unknown model*. As a result of this information, detectives obtained multiple warrants for the arrest of Deante GAINES in connection to this incident. The investigation into this incident continues as detectives seek to locate the other vehicle and to identify the other suspects involved.
**INCIDENTS**
Strong Armed Robbery – On March 23rd at 2:30PM, officers responded to the 14700 block of Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 31 year old man of no fixed address, reported to police that he was in the above area when he was approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man asked the victim for money. As the victim reached for his wallet, the suspect assaulted him and forcibly took the wallet from the victim’s hands. The suspect immediately fled on foot. The victim attempted to chase the suspect but lost sight of him. During the chase, the suspect dropped the wallet. The victim further reported that money inside the wallet was reported missing. Minor injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect.
Suspect Description:
Black male, between 20 & 25 years of age, 6’1”, 215lbs with a heavy build, medium complexion, short black hair and brown eyes
Last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans
Residential Burglary – On March 23rd at 2:32PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2000 block of Bowline Lp in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 9:00AM and 2:00PM. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the home through a rear sliding glass door which was found damaged. A tablet, jewelry and money were reported missing.
Attempted Residential Burglary – On March 23rd at 7:27PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 4400 block of Worchester Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an attempted burglary. The resident of the apartment reported to police sometime between 7:30AM and 5:15PM, entry was attempted into the residence through the front door which was found damaged. No entry was made into the apartment and no property was reported missing.
