Prince William board promotes two to deputy county executive: Casciato and Price

The Board of County Supervisors has announced the promotion of Michelle Casciato and Chris Price to fill the two vacant Deputy County Executive positions. These became available with the promotion of Christopher Martino to County Executive and the retirement of Susan Roltsch.

Casciato, who was the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, will oversee the General Government functions of the organization.

Chris Price, who was the Planning Director, will oversee the Community Development functions.

They join Elijah Johnson, who oversees Human Services to round out the County Executive team.

“These hires provide Prince William County Government with a dynamic executive team,” a press release quoted Corey Stewart, chairman of the Board of County Supervisors as saying. “Casciato and Price have brought innovative approaches to the business of government in their previous roles with the organization. They have demonstrated their ability to find solutions to accomplish the Board’s goals and initiatives. Their leadership and talent will allow Prince William County Government to remain one of the most effective and efficient government organizations in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

“I am honored to be named Deputy County Executive and to continue serving the community in this role,” Casciato was quoted as saying in the press release.. “I am excited by the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as we continue our efforts of continuously improving Prince William County Government.”

Casciato has been with Prince William County Government since 2005, when she was hired as the Neighborhood Coordinator. In 2006 she created the Neighborhood Services program and was named Division Chief of the newly formed Neighborhood Services Division of Public Works.

In 2010, Casciato was appointed as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Prior to coming to Prince William County, Casciato was the Vice President of a private sector property management firm where she spent 21 years of her career.

Casciato earned her B.A. from Cornell University, an MPA from George Mason University, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at George Mason University. She resides in Woodbridge.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and for the trust the Board and the County Executive have placed in me,” Price was quoted as saying in the press release. “I am eager to continue working with the community development agencies to do all we can to make Prince William County the community that the Board and the residents envision for the future.”

Price came to Prince William County in 2011 when he was hired as the Planning Director. During his tenure, Price made significant strides in reengineering the planning process in Prince William County, which streamlined the development process and increased community input on rezoning and redevelopment efforts in the County.

Prior to coming to Prince William, Price served as the Executive Director of the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission, was the Assistant Director for the Centre County Planning and Community Development office in Bellefonte, Pa. and was a Senior Planner for the Centre Region Council of Governments in State College, Pa.

Price is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners and earned his B.S. from Penn State University and his MPA from Old Dominion University. He resides in Haymarket.
