Police investigate felony animal cruelty and malicious woundings

**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding – On April 24 at 5:00PM, officers responded to the 2700 block of Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 26 year old man of Stafford, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal alteration which escalated. During the encounter, the accused punched the victim in the face then pushed him to the ground and kicked him. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. The accused fled prior to police arriving in the area. Following the investigation, officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of the accused.

Malicious Wounding | Attempted Residential Burglary – On April 24 at 2:24AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13200 block of Delaney Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 39 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal alteration outside the residence which escalated. When the victim went inside the residence, the accused broke a window where the victim was standing, causing a laceration on her arm. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. The accused fled prior to police arriving in the area. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused.

Described as a black male, 5’06”, 140lbs with black hair and brown eyes
Wanted for malicious wounding, attempted burglary, and destruction of property

Felony Animal Cruelty – On April 22 at 12:10PM, Animal Control responded to the area of Fleetwood Dr near the Fauquier County line in Nokesville (20181) to investigate an animal cruelty complaint. The caller reported to police that they were in the above area when an animal in distress was heard. Upon checking the area, the caller located a small dog in a black trash bag along the side of the road. The dog was found to be in extremely poor condition. The caller attempted to provide the dog water but do to its state, was unable to drink. Animal Control Officers immediately transported the dog to the Prince William County Animal Shelter to be evaluated by the shelter’s veterinarian. Based on the evaluation and due to the dog’s deteriorating condition, the determination was made to humanly euthanize the animal. The dog was transported to a state lab for a necropsy and further examination. The dog is believed to be a Chihuahua/Pomeranian-mix, tan in color, and approximately 10 years old. The dog weighed about 3lbs and had no identifying marks or collar. Below are stock photos of what the dog would appear to have looked like in better health. Animal Control Officers are currently seeking any information about this case which will aid in the identification of the dog’s owner. The investigation continues.

Residential Burglary – On April 23 at 1:45PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3500 block of Eagle Ridge Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:00PM on April 22 and 1:00PM on April 23. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the residence through a rear basement window which was found damaged. A computer laptop and jewelry were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On April 23 at 10:16PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2000 block of McNamera Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 5:30PM on April 22 and 9:45AM on April 23. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made into the residence through a rear window which was found unlocked. Jewelry and several purses were reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On April 20 at 12:07PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14100 block of Hunters Run Way in Woodbridge (20155) to investigate an attempted burglary. A resident of the home reported to police that sometime between 8:00AM on April 10 and 5:00PM on April 17, entry was attempted into the home through a door which was found damaged. No entry was made and no property was reported missing. 

**ARRESTS**

Armed Robbery – On April 22 at 9:30AM, officers responded to the area of Armada Pl and Basque Pl in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 16 year old male juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was walking in the above area earlier that morning when he was approached by an acquaintance, identified as a 16 year old male juvenile. During the encounter, the accused demanded the victim’s shoes. When the victim refused, a struggle ensued. At some point, the accused brandished a handgun, then took the victim’s shoes before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained a detention order for the arrest of the accused. The accused turned himself into police at the Gar-Field Station in Woodbridge later that evening.

Charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony

Malicious Wounding | Domestic Assault & Battery – On April 23 at 7:30AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15000 block of Cloverdale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic assault. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 33 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, identified as Lamar GRADY, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck. When the victim was able to get away from the accused, the accused went to the victim’s vehicle and smashed the windshield with his feet. At some point, the accused became involved in another verbal altercation with a different acquaintance, identified as Akwasi BANAHENE. At some point, the two began to fight and police were contacted. During the fight, BANAHENE punched GRADY in the face causing a laceration to his lip. Officers arrived at the residence and detained GRADY and BANAHENE without further incident. GRADY was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported. Following the investigation, both men were arrested.

Strangulation | Assault & Battery – On April 21 at 2:00PM, officers responded to the PTRC bus terminal located at 14700 Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 58 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was in the above area when he was approached by an unknown man who punched him in the face in an unprovoked incident. At some point, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck and began to choke him. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. When the officers arrived and attempted to detain the accused, he resisted before being quickly detained. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with strangulation, assault & battery, and resisting arrest

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On April 24 at 1:01AM, officers responded to the 14500 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a disorderly call. An officer arrived and made contact with a woman, identified as the accused, who exhibited signs of intoxication. When the officer attempted to detain the accused, she resisted and struck the officer in the chest. The accused was quickly detained without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Narcotics Investigation – On March 11, detectives from the Northern Virginia Gang Task Force concluded an investigation into the distribution of marijuana in the area of Savannah Dr in Woodbridge (22191). Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused.  The accused was located and arrested without incident on March 11. A search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence of the accused. The arrest was previously held for investigative purposes.

Charged with 6 counts of distribution of marijuana
