Police identify suspect vehicle; now vehicle and driver sought in November fatal crash in Triangle

Fatal Crash Investigation *SUSPECT VEHICLE – Based on the investigation into the fatal hit & run crash which occurred in the 18800 block of Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle on Nov. 29, investigators from Prince William County Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit believe the striking vehicle involved in the collision was a light-color, Ford Escape between model years 2001 and 2004. The vehicle would have sustained damage to a headlight and a hood mounted bug deflector.

Fatal Crash | Hit & Run Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED [Previously Released] – Investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit have positively identified the victim of the fatal hit and run which occurred in the 18800 block of Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle on Nov. 29. Investigators continue to investigate this crash and are looking for anyone with information about the person or vehicle involved. The victim has been identified as Robert James GERNER, 55, of Triangle

Fatal Crash | Hit & Run Investigation [Previously Released] – On November 29 at 8:44PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 18800 block of Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle (22172) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located an adult male lying in the roadway suffering from serious, life threatening injuries. He was flown to a local hospital where he later died. The initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk, was attempting to cross the westbound lane of Fuller Heights Rd when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. Investigators are awaiting a positive identification of the pedestrian. The pedestrian is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
