Police find bullet holes in a Woodbridge home and a Manassas home

Prince William County Police Department’s reports of incidents and arrests on Monday, March 7, 2016:

**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding – On March 5 at 9:37PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which occurred at the Battlefield Sportsplex located at 6966 Wellington Rd in Manassas (22109) earlier that evening. The victim, a 46 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he was playing in a soccer game when a verbal altercation ensued with players from the other team which escalated.  During the encounter, the victim was punched in the head causing a serious injury. After the altercation, the parties separated and the victim responded to a local medical office where police were contacted. The victim was later transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The victim was unable to provide a suspect description. The investigation continues.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On March 6 at 1:40AM, officers responded to the 18400 block of Woodlawn Dr in Triangle (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. The caller reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard in the above area. Officers checked the area and located several shell casings in the street. No injuries or property damage were reported. No suspect description is available.

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – On March 5 at 11:20AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15500 block of Andover Heights Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a destruction of property call. The homeowner reported to police that a bullet hole was discovered in the side of the residence. Upon further investigation, a bullet was located in an upstairs bedroom. No injuries or other property damage were reported.  It is unknown when the incident occurred.

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – On February 26 at 12:26PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7900 block of Manassas Dr in Manassas (20111) to investigate a destruction of property call. The homeowner reported to police that a bullet was located inside the residence on a bedroom floor. The investigation revealed that sometime during the overnight hours, the bullet entered the home. No injuries or other property damage were reported.

Residential Burglary – On March 4 at 2:06PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3500 block of Nexus Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:00AM and 12:30PM. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the residence through the front door which was found damaged. A television was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Residential Burglary | Strangulation | Abduction – On March 6 at 2:30PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which occurred at a residence located in the 13300 block of Pelican Rd in Woodbridge (22193) earlier that afternoon. The victim, a 17 year old female juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that the accused, an acquaintance, entered her residence without permission. Once inside, a verbal altercation ensued between the two parties which escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim’s cell phone and threw it against a wall damaging it. When the victim attempted to walk away, the accused grabbed her from behind, preventing her from leaving, and began to choke her. At one point while the victim was attempting to get away from the accused, he continued to punch her in the face. The accused eventually left the area and the victim responded to the Garfield Station to report the incident. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused who was located and arrested without incident later that evening.

Charged with burglary, strangulation, abduction, assault & battery and destruction of property

Malicious Wounding – On March 5 at 10:28PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5500 block of Hope Hill Ave in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 38 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused pulled out a knife and a struggle ensued. At some point, the victim was cut with the knife before the parties separated and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

Travis Lemont SMITH, 39, of 5514 Blasius Ct in Woodbridge
Charged with malicious wounding

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On March 3 at 11:40AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 14100 block of Cove Landing Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 24 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused pulled out a box cutter and cut the victim on the shoulder. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

Maria Edith MARTINEZ NIEVES, 33, of 14127 Essex Dr in Woodbridge
Charged with attempted malicious wounding
Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond
