Parking lot robbery attempted by masked man; victim, shot while fleeing, goes to hospital

Shooting Investigation | Armed Robbery – On Monday, Aug. 23, 2021 at 12:34AM, officers from the Prince William County Police Department responded to investigate a shooting that occurred in the Signal Hill Apartments located in the 15200 block of Colony Pl. in Woodbridge (22191) earlier that evening, according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer.
MPO Carr reported that the investigation revealed that the victim, a 24-year-old man, was in the parking lot of the above area when he was approached by an unknown masked man. During the encounter, the man brandished a firearm before demanding the victim’s property. When the victim attempted to flee on foot, a round was fired–striking the victim.
The victim was able to separate from the suspect and went to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. There is no suspect description at this time, according to MPO Carr said.
