The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Eastern Federal Lands Highways Division (EFLHD), in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS), will begin a construction project to repair and resurface park roads and parking areas at Manassas National Battlefield Park.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 21, during non rush-hours, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The initial work during the week of July 21-25 will occur on New York Avenue and North Chinn Road. The affected sections of roadway will be closed to traffic during construction. Changing locations of work zones and project updates will be provided in a weekly traffic advisory to the news media.
The NPS will continue to inform the public and the media of any delays or adjustments to this work schedule.
Park visitors are encouraged to inquire at the Henry Hill Visitor Center concerning any available alternatives to accessing affected areas of the park. Motorists will be notified of construction activity through the use of construction signs and variable message boards.
As with all road construction projects, inclement weather may require adjustments to the schedules, including the possibility of postponement. Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays and accomplish the work in a timely manner. The NPS regrets any inconvenience and appreciates all motorists’ understanding and patience. The project is anticipated to be completed by November 2014.
