Park Valley Church’s Disaster Team heading to Texas Sept. 8; supplies needed

Haymarket’s Park Valley Church’s Disaster Relief Team (PVC DRT) will be deploying to flood ravaged Houston to bring supplies, help, and Jesus to a community in need, according to a news release.

On September 8th, a team of approximately eight volunteers will be driving two moving trucks full of supplies 23+ hours to Houston, Texas. The team will be hosted by Cypress Creek Baptist Church and while there, they will be stocking the church distribution center, making supply deliveries, ministering to those in the shelter, and bringing Jesus to those in need and relief workers. The team will fly back to the DC area on Monday, September 11th.

The community can help. “Our contacts in the area have indicated the need for specific items and we want to show up with two 26 foot trucks packed to the brim with these supplies,” the news release said.

Supply donations can be dropped off at Park Valley Church, between the hours of 5 and 8pm Monday, Sept. 4 through Thursday, Sept. 7. 

Financial donations are also welcome and will be used to off-set airfare, truck/van rentals, meals, and gas. Any additional funds will be used to purchase supplies and gift cards for those in Houston who are displaced or in need. Help is also needed at the church on US 15 loading the trucks on Thursday September 7th starting at 5pm. “Many hands make light work, so we hope to have a lot of hands,: the news release said.
