Learn about specific academic specialty programs for high school students during upcoming open houses at PWC High Schools.
Representatives of Prince William County Schools specialty programs, Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs, and Junior ROTC will be on hand during each scheduled session to answer questions and provide detailed information about their respective programs. Preview information about each program in the online specialty programs brochure: https://www.pwcs.edu/UserFiles/Servers/Server_340140/File/Student%20Learning/Specialty%20Programs/HS%20Dec%20Opportunities%2012_16_16%20web.pdf
The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2018, for most high schools. Many students enter specialty programs and CTE transfer programs as freshmen, while CTE transport programs typically start during the sophomore or junior year. It is important to note that an application is required even when the program location is in the student’s base school.
If a program receives applications for more students than the program can accept or the school can house, a lottery is used to select program participants. Due to enrollment capacity at a given school, a program may close to new transfer students.
Specialty Programs
Ninth-grade students may participate in the comprehensive program at their base high school, apply for the specialty program at their base high school, or apply to transfer to another high school for a specialty program. Presentations begin at 7 p.m. on these dates unless otherwise noted. *Check school websites for weather-related cancellations.
