Roger Ramsammy, provost at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College,has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Academic, Student and Community Development. The trade association is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Ramsammy will serve a three-year term starting July 1, 2015. He was appointed by Walter G. Bumphus, president and CEO of the AACC.
Bumphus is quoted as saying, “We are sure that your insights and leadership will significantly contribute to the Board’s decision-making process and its ability to serve the interests of all AACC member institutions.”
The AACC’s Commission on Academic, Student and Community Development addresses issues relating to testing, access, accountability, student support services, and student completion and success.
Commission members encourage collaboration among member institutions, discuss issues facing community colleges and provide advice to the Board.
“It’s an honor to be selected for this important role and I am looking forward to working with my fellow commission members to strengthen all community colleges,” Ramsammy said.
