During the 2017 holiday season, Manassas City Police Department has put everyone on notice that city police officers will be actively searching for drunk drivers around the clock.
From now until Dec.31, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Manassas City Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies will be participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign.
Along with enforcement, city police will be promoting awareness of the dangers associated with impaired driving on the MCPD’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Follow these tips to stay safe this holiday season:
• It’s never okay to drink and drive. Even if you’ve had one alcoholic beverage, plan a sober ride home.
• Download NHTSA’s SaferRide mobile app in the Google Play or Apple iTune’s store. The app identifies a user’s location and assists them with calling a taxi or a friend for a sober ride home.
• If you see a drunk driver on the road, contact the Manassas City Police Department at (703) 257-8000.
• Have a friend who is about to drink and drive? Take the keys away and make arrangements to get your friend home safely.
