Nominees sought for Human Rights Award in Prince William County

Prince William Human Rights Commission is now accepting nominations for its annual Human Rights Awards to honor individuals, non-profit organizations or businesses for outstanding accomplishments toward human rights.

The nominees should be those who contribute toward “equality for all people in Prince William County, demonstrated by leadership and excellence in any field,” according to the Human Rights Office.

Nominations must be received at the Human Rights Office by Nov. 23. Recipients of the awards will be recognized at the observance of Universal Human Rights Day on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at the McCoart Administration Building, 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge.

The Prince William County Human Rights Commission’s mandate is to eliminate discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, age or disability in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, education and credit.
