Fourteen teachers have been nominated to become Fauquier County Public School’s 2013 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher.
Parents, school employees and community members were invited to nominate teachers at the school level, and then each school selected one teacher to forward as a nominee.
The Washington Post Company Educational Foundation established the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award to recognize teachers who exemplify excellence in their profession. An FCPS advisory team will review the 14 nominations and select Fauquier County’s recipient, who will receive $3000 from The Washington Post Company Educational Foundation at a ceremony in May, according to a news release.
Dr. Sandra Mitchell, interim division superintendent, was quoted in the news release as saying, “Picking only one outstanding teacher will be extremely difficult because this year’s slate of nominees is filled with a superior group of truly exceptional teachers. We have so many excellent teachers in our county that it becomes more and more of a challenge each year to single out only one.”
Here are the 14 FCPS teachers nominated for the 2013 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award:
