Motorists will notice that the flashing school lights on the approach to schools will be operating on a normal schedule from April 2–April 9 while Prince William County Public Schools are closed for spring break and a teacher workday.
According to Irene Cromer, supervisor of school community relations, lights are programmed to operate automatically and are not reprogrammed during school breaks. The lights must be manually adjusted by sending a worker to each location.
That would take almost a week to get to each one; by that time they would need to be reset again, according to Associate Superintendent for Finance and Support Services, Dave Cline. This applies to other school breaks and holidays as well.” ...resources are allocated where they will be most effective and according to School Board priorities,” he said.
