No charges to be placed in March 5, 2023 homicide investigation

Justified-Homicide Investigation *UPDATE –
On June 21, 2023 Prince William County Police detectives concluded the investigation into a man who was killed by a family member during a domestic altercation that occurred at a residence located in the 14500 block of Fullerton Rd in Woodbridge (22193) on March 5. The investigation revealed there were no indications the family member involved in the death, identified as an 80-year-old man, provoked the altercation with the deceased. On August 2, after consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, the death was ruled to be justified based on the investigation and final autopsy report from the Medical Examiner’s Office, therefore no charges will be placed or sought.

Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On March 5 at 8:53PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14500 block of Fullerton Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic-related shooting. The investigation revealed two family members, identified as the deceased and an 80-year-old man, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated leading to one of the parties being shot once to the upper body. Police were contacted and responding officers quickly arrived at the home where the family member was detained without incident. Officers provided first aid to the injured party until fire and rescue personnel arrived at that home and transported him to an area hospital where he died from his injuries sustained during the altercation. The parties involved in this incident are accounted for, and there is no threat to the community. Detectives are continuing their investigation to determine what led up to the shooting, and if charges will be obtained. Anyone with information that could aid investigators in this investigation are asked to contact police.
 
INCIDENTS
• Attempted Armed Robbery –
On August 2, 2023 at 7:36PM,  Prince William County Police officers responded to Dona Bessy Pupuseria located at 10386 Festival Ln. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an attempted robbery. The investigation revealed an unknown man, later identified as the accused, walked to the register where he brandished a knife and demanded money. When another employee intervened, the accused fled the store without obtaining any money. While investigating the incident, officers located the accused nearby and detained him without incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified Shane Davis LUCAS, was arrested.

ARRESTS
• Reckless Handling of a Firearm –
On July 26, 2023 at 8:10PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 10100 block of Broadsword Dr. in Bristow (20136) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed four male juveniles were inside the home when a firearm was discharged. Two of the juveniles quickly fled the home. The fired round struck a couch and interior wall. No injuries or additional property damage were reported. While investigating the incident, officers determined two of the juveniles were handling the firearm when a round was fired. The other two juveniles were in the room but were not involved in the incident. On August 2, following the investigation, officers obtained petitions for both suspects, identified as 15-year-old male juveniles. After consultation with Juvenile Court Services, the case resulted in a formal action to be handled through the court process at a later date.
