New Parks and Recreation Director to join Prince William County staff

Seth Hendler-Voss is the new Parks and Recreation Director for Prince William County.

Hendler-Voss will be coming to Prince William County from Canton, NC, where he served as the Town Manager. While there, he led several successful parks and recreation initiatives and community development programs, raised more than $3 million in private donations and grants, and obtained a $350,000 grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund.

Previously, Hendler-Voss worked as the Principal Landscape Architect and then the Planning and Development Manager for the City of Asheville’s Parks and Recreation Department. Before that, he worked as the Principal Landscape Architect for the City of Atlanta’s Office of Park Design.

“The Board is very excited about the hire of Seth Hendler-Voss,” Corey A. Stewart, Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors was quoted as saying in a press release. “He brings a great deal of experience in local government, including as a previous director of parks and recreation, which gives him a unique understand and perspective of government operations at all levels.”

“I want to thank the Board of County Supervisors for this opportunity,”  Hendler-Voss was quoted as saying in the press release.. “I am looking forward to continuing the great progress Prince William County has made in the area of parks and recreation, as well as bringing dynamic new ideas and initiatives to the table.”

Hendler-Voss received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Public Affairs degree from Western Carolina University. He is a Registered Landscape Architect in North Carolina and a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association.

Hendler-Voss replaces Debbie Andrew who retired in December, 2016.
