To much fanfare, a new HMart supermarket, opened to shoppers at 9:30 this morning, April 25, in the space at Manassas Junction formerly occupied by Giant Food.
The new store stocks an abundance of fresh produce and fresh seafood and many traditional grocery items. Regular hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
While cameras clicked away, HMart’s president Bryan Kwon and Manassas city’s vice mayor Jonathan Way made very brief speeches under an arch of brightly colored balloons. A host of officials from the company’s corporate headquarters in Lyndhurst, NJ were in attendance.
With an assist from Prince William Chamber of Commerce former president Susan Jacob, HMart, city and community representatives donned gloves and cut the tape to officially open the new store, at 8819 Centreville Road, just off Liberia Avenue near Home Depot.
Many of HMart’s 63 other stores sent congratulatory wreaths which were lined up across the front of the HMart Manassas which joins the company’s nearby supermarkets in Centreville, Fairfax, Falls Church and Annandale.
Among the noticeable features of the new fully stocked supermarket are a greatly expanded fresh produce section, a café with tables and chairs in the righthand rear corner and a huge fresh seafood and fish section and a pleasant aroma throughout.
During HMart’s opening weekend, more than 20 different food samplings from around the world will be offered.
