New for fall: Meteorology at NOVA-Manassas

Do you want to learn how meteorologists forecast the weather? The Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will offer a meteorology course for the first time this fall. 

“Meteorology” (NAS 125) presents a nontechnical survey of fundamental meteorology and covers the effects of weather and climate on people and their activities.

Instructor John Cornicelli is a member of the American Meteorological Society with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology and a master’s degree in applied physics. After serving a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force in a variety of fields including meteorology, he currently works with the Department of Homeland Security.

The course will meet on Tuesday evenings starting Aug. 25 and will involve both in-class and online meetings. A schedule of the in-class and online sessions will be distributed during the first class.

Students must register no later than 11:59 p.m. Aug. 23. Online registration is open 24 hours a day at http://www.nvcc.edu and in-person assistance is available during normal business hours at the Student Services Center.
