New Dominion Choraliers to sing of “Christmas Joys” Dec. 7-8

New Dominion Choraliers of Prince William County invite you to a Holiday celebration of “Christmas Joys” at Forest Park High School, 15721 Forest Park Drive, in Woodbridge, on Saturday, December 7, at 7:30 P.M., and on Sunday, December 8, at 4:30 P.M.

In describing their eighteenth Holiday concert, the chorus’ Director, Katherine Nelson-Tracey, explained, “We want to share with everyone some beautiful music that we believe will fill your hearts with the spirit and joys of the Holiday Season, and delight every member of the family.  And since this year is the 100th anniversary of the birth of renowned British composer, Benjamin Britten, the centerpiece of this year’s concert will be a collection of lyrical melodies that he wrote, called ‘A Ceremony of Carols’.”

Steve Hein, president of the Choraliers, noted that “this musical program will be especially uplifting. Songs like ‘Midnight Lullaby’ and ‘How Great Our Joy’ remind us of the spiritual bond that we all share, however we may celebrate the season.  And the lovely melody, ‘Light a Candle’, illuminates the hopes and dreams—-that people everywhere have—-for peace throughout the world.”

The Choraliers will also be presenting traditional Carols, with a particularly joyous rendition of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, as well as some of your favorite songs about winter Holiday fun, such as ‘Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer’, and a sing-along medley that includes ‘Jingle Bells, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, and Feliz Navidad’.

According to Heather Simpson, NDC’s Social Committee Chair, “We’ll give you a musical recipe for the tastiest ‘Fruitcake’ you’ve ever known, along with lots of ‘Hot Chocolate’ from The Polar Express!”  And the Dance Etc. School of the Arts will again illustrate some of the music with dance.

Tickets are available at the box office, and online through the NDC website and at http://www.mycommunitytickets.net/common/eventDetail.aspx?id=25133 or 25134.  Children 4 and younger are free.

The New Dominion Choraliers is an award-winning volunteer, non-auditioned, chorus of dedicated amateur and professional musicians.  NDC is an Affiliate Arts Organization at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
